Solo black female traveller in her 30s, first time in Budapest, stayed 4 nights. When I first arrived it was great to be greeted by a friendly face, in the form of Sizanna. Throughout the trip she proved genuine and lovely, providing advice of where to go and directions. On the social night she was great at bringing everyone together and helping us get to know each other. She seemed to really care about the well being of guests and made the effort to make sure you were having a good trip, which was much appreciated. The other staff members were really friendly and fun too. There was someone on the desk 24 hours a day which was really helpful. Diverse range of people staying there in terms of age, gender and nationality, so was nice to have a mix of people. Really close to transport links, ruin bars and restaurants but not a party hostel, so still able to sleep. Curtains fitted to each bed helped if you wanted to nap during the day or have some privacy. Kitchen and social nights was a good place to start conversations with people/ make friends. The bathroom was my only issue as it's shared with the whole floor of dorms, which at busy times meant you wait to use the shower or toilet and it got dirty quite quickly, I was glad I brought flip flops. Another thing that was really handy about the hostel was that you could store your luggage there after check out to have more time to explore Budapest before your flight. Tip- with your room card make sure you keep it separate to contactless bank cards and mobile phone, as I started having issues with mine and room access as a result. Also with a small deposit (1500 forint) you can have unlimited towel use, just drop in your old towel for a new one whenever you need to, which was great. Overall had a good stay.
