I stayed at BO18 for 7 nights with my partner and we had a really lovely visit. I would highly recommend the hotel for a stay and would definitely return in the future.
Check in
We were greeted by a very friendly gentleman who gave good information about the hotel and local area. It was innovative to be asked to input one’s own details on an iPad to register with the hotel.
A special touch was the welcome drink voucher that the hotel gives you to try a glass of Hungarian wine from the hotel bar during the stay.
The room
Our room (115) was located on the first floor, overlooking the central courtyard. The double room (made up of two singles pushed together) was a good size and nicely furnished. It is well designed with lots of amenities to help guests. There was plenty of space to store clothes on shelves and in a small wardrobe. It was also helpful to have a luggage stand for our suitcase.
The shower room and WC was nicely fitted out and I especially liked the scent of the hand soap and body wash, which had camelia leaf extract and was very refreshing. The wall mounted hair dryer was decent but took could have been a bit more powerful. There was no rack on the wall so all towels had to be placed on the hook on the door - this is a very minor thing that could be improved.
In room entertainment is good with access to YouTube and Netflix via a large smart TV. There was also a well equipped minibar.
Sleep comfort was fairly nice. Two pillows (one small, one large) are provided and you can request different kinds from the pillow menu! There is very little sound proofing and we had some noisy neighbours during our stay so you might want to take ear plugs if you are a light sleeper.
I was very impressed with the climate control and air conditioning which allows you to customise the environment in your room.
Housekeeping
Every day we returned to find our room had been made up to a high standard and was beautifully clean.
Breakfast
An impressive buffet is provided in the breakfast room and it includes hot breakfast (scrambled eggs, sausages, boiled eggs), cold meats, cheese, salad, yoghurt, cereal, tinned fruit and whole fruit, juices and local pastries. I especially liked the Hungarian chocolate coconut balls which tasted a little bit like rum and were very moreish. The scrambled eggs were also extremely well made. On Saturday and Sunday there is a chocolate fountain for fruit dipping which is a nice surprise and adds an extra treat.
There is a good range of juices from concentrate (on tap from a machine) as well as a choice of flavoured teas. The coffee from the pot is quite strong but there is also a machine which provides lovely cappuccino, long blacks and lattes.
A special treat was the Hungarian sparkling wine which I mixed with juice that I squeezed from a whole orange – hey presto…Bucks Fizz.
The servers in the breakfast room are friendly and they work hard to keep the area clean and maintain the buffet stocks.
Hotel amenities
The lounge in the lobby area has free tea and coffee all day as well as a good range of books to borrow. There is also a PlayStation console and iPad for use by guests but these were both out of use during our stay so we were a little disappointed not to have a late night gaming battle.
The compact gym has everything you need for a quick workout – weights, a treadmill and a bike. This area was especially welcome after all the treats I consumed whilst in Budapest!
I saw the Jacuzzi and sauna area which looked very clean and new but sadly I didn’t get the chance to try them.
Location
All the main areas of the city are close by or within easy reach of the hotel. Additionally, there are some great shopping opportunities at the nearby Corvin Plaza centre and amazing restaurants within easy reach (I tried Cinema Sushi and Portum - both of which were within 5 minutes walk).
Check out
Guests are required to vacate their rooms by 10am on the day of departure and everything is handled efficiently on check out. We left our bags in the hotel luggage room before leaving. Our taxi, booked by the hotel reception, turned up in good time so we had a stress free trip to the airport.
Overall, this is a very pleasant hotel where the guests are well catered for. It is definitely somewhere I would stay again.
