This is a place that is a must-see. Location is where the Nazis rounded up random Jewish people next to the river and shot them and push the bodies into the river.

I have been to this memorial twice. It is a striking memorial to those Hungarian Jews that just had no chance to survive. Extremely moving. One of the best memorials I've seen ever.

This shoes are conceived to honor the people who were killed by fascist Arrow Cross men in Budapest during World War II. The story is a really sad but an important thing to see.

Top of the list - must see in Budapest, but may be missed. Take the Parliament train stop; once there, past the statue, take the stairs to the nearby waterfront down the river a short walk, you'll see the shoes. There's a small plaque behind them against the wall giving a description. The shoes, all shapes and sizes, though adorned with ribbons and candles, are a solemn permanent fixture/reminder of what happened. The horror of humans being marched to the riverfront, shoes removed, shot and pushed in the river to float away, really happened. The artist has memorialized it.
