Bled is, in terms of Slovenia, a very commercialised resort with a lot of hotels and coach traffic. Penzion Berc is just that little bit off the main track. It offers a calm, restful experience in a traditional establishment that has been owned by the same family for a number of years. It has been tastefully modernised while keeping the traditional wooden values.
The welcome is very friendly and the staff are very helpful. At breakfast, you are offered a range of local produce, which includes good coffee and fruit juice.. You can borrow electric bikes, which make an ideal way to tour the hilly areas around the famous lake, especially if, like me, your legs are not used to cycling. The electric assist makes it very easy to get back up the hill to the hotel!
It is also close enough to the centre of town that it is easy to walk to any restaurant you want to try out.
In short a jewel of a hotel to stay in.More
