I read the most recent reviews (from August 2018 onwards) and agree with the reviewers. The property and staff are excellent. We stayed 5 nights and had booked a "deluxe" room off the hotel's website and received a prestige junior suite at no extra cost. The website describes each room accurately as are the photos provided by the hotel. Here is extra info to help you decide whether or not this hotel suits your needs:
1. Hotel is in the embassy area of the city. German, Italian and US consulates are within half a "block" from the property so security is very good.
2. Uphill location. As mentioned by others, there is a climb to the property. We have no mobility issues and are reasonably fit. There is a bus that can take you up the hill but there is an additional climb to the hotel. The roadway is cobble stone and can be slippery when wet.
3. Airport transfer can be arranged by the hotel. We had excellent service by a competent and pleasant driver. Would highly recommend this service. Flat rates from the airport were charged at 590CZK. We also asked for transfer to the main train station (Hlavni Madrazi) which was organized by the hotel. Again, flat rate charged, prompt and pleasant service which was payable in cash (Czech Koruna).
4. While we had no issues with the location, others may prefer a location closer to the tram stops and less walking to the Old Town. As mentioned by others, the hotel is very close to Prague Castle - about a 10 minute stroll uphill. One can become very out of breath if walking uphill is not something you regularly do.
5. Noise transfer can be an issue. Plumbing gurgles down to the lower floors so choose a room in an upper floor. Guests were generally very quiet during our stay but we could hear conversations in the courtyard and between rooms very clearly.
6. Staff and service are excellent. This was mentioned by most reviewers. All our questions were answered pleasantly. We were offered early breakfast one morning due to our travel scheduled and a packed breakfast on another morning due to early departure. There was plenty of food and drink packed for us.
7. About the review concerning keys. It is common practice in Europe to leave real keys with the front desk if you are leaving the hotel. If the hotel uses card keys you can take them with you. However, the keys for this hotel are real keys and on heavy key holders.
8. There are a few restaurants/pubs close by up near the castle. We found that walk-in is not a good idea for the popular restaurants such as Lokal - make reservations on-line. Ask the hotel to make reservations for you at the U Magistra Kelly, which is just steps downhill from the hotel. It is a very popular pub and the best way to get a table is with a reservation.
9. Breakfast was truly remarkable and we have experienced many hotel-offered breakfasts.

I would stay at at this historic hotel again.

Dear Guest,

Thanks for taking the time not only to provide us with a 5-star review but also to clarify some questions regarding previous reviews.
We are glad to have met your expectations and that our business partners were also pleasant and professional.
It's also quite overwhelming to hear that our breakfast is a stand-out to even experienced travelers like yourself. Thank you for your kind words.

We also would like to add that there is a flatter (but longer) way to get to the hotel if one avoids Nerudova street taking Tržiště / Břetislavova streets instead. People would miss the charme of Nerudova st and walk a bit more, but would avoid the climbing to the hotel.

Thanks again for all your comments, we hope you've had a fantastic time in Prague and look forward to another opportunity to welcome you back.

Kind regards,

A peaceful haven within reasonable walking distance of all attractions. Very comfortable, spotlessly clean, well equipped and beautifully furnished deluxe room with outside seating area in garden. Room available in advance of check in time and luggage stored safely after check out. Lovely breakfast including sparking wine at weekend. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommended.

Wonderful hotel with huge rooms (more like suites), very nice staff, plentiful and delicious breakfast (breakfast room is amazing). The location in Mala Strana is just perfect. Free coffee and pastries in the reception and also they have umbrellas available for customers to borrow, which was crutial for us, as it rained on both days we stayed there. We really loved it, and will surely stay there when we go back to Prague.

We booked this through Jet 2. The 2 bedroom apartment was lovely. Very homely and and a superb location, 7 mins to castle and 10 mins to Charles Bridge. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Breakfast is served in an amazing vaulted room. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Prague.

Room tip: Appartment 306 was so spacious and quiet.
