On the main road through Matatiele. The manicured lawns and beautiful buildings say “WELCOME”. You will NOT find more friendly and helpful anywhere. Owners, Elrita and Philip and son David will make sure you get the best of everything. Fantastic meals are provided in the mornings and evenings. Neat, clean, quiet and well appointed rooms. Ask Phillip about trips to Lesotho which is a must do. Don’t forget your passport. Then talk to the most enthusiastic fly fisherman, David, I’ve ever came across about fly fishing in the Matatiele Mountain Lake, which is fly fishing paradise. At Resthaven you will not be disappointed.

I used this charming guest house as a stop over en route but wish I had had more time to explore all the facilities. I was offered 3 room options from budget through to luxury. As I was travelling alone I chose the more expensive option. It was well worth it! The room was beautifully appointed, a fabulous bathroom with jacuzzi and a nice patio area for relaxing and looking at the view. The security was fabulous, parking was safe and the welcome friendly. There is a coffee shop on site for breakfast.

We arrived very early in the afternoon without a reservation but straight after a great cappucino could go to our room. A so called economy room but really good value! Room enough that if we wanted we could even have stored our bicycles in the room! Coffee & tea in the room and the great shower were much appreciated.

We did have dinner at the accommodation and again great value - very generous & helpfull owners. Strong recommended.

This inn has everything a traveler or vacationer like us to enjoy. Helpful hosts giving great directions to local scenic wonders, like Matatiele lake and environs on mountain.
Great (meaning great) food at the restaurant with a chef that "aims to please" with both preparation and meal presentation. Fabulous room in huge room with great bathtub with jets and all.. nice cooking facilities and great hospitality from owners
We are from Wyoming USA and had been advised after crossing Naudes Nek pass that this was the best place in the region to stay.. that was no lie and we are certainly grateful to you all.. will return for sure. Suzanne and I had a memorable time with your help and enthusiasm about the region and its birds and outdoor experiences possible.. thanks

Room Tip: the room we had with self catering (if available) was first rate

Our group of 6 arrived from Lesotho late on a Sunday when restaurants were closed. Phillip cooked up a spur of the moment steak dinner for us and two guests that just excellent. Our rooms on the second floor of he guest house were clean and comfortable with a fine view out over the garden and town toward the mountains. The large bathroom had both a shower and tub. Breakfast in the morning was just fine. Phillip seemed very familiar with places to visit in Lesotho, both with 4X4 and ordinary cars. We were so pleasantly surprised by the first-rate quality of Resthaven!

Room Tip: A superior room upstairs in the back
