WEAR BUG REPELLANT!!!! i cannot stress this enough. Buy it there!!! But don’t go without it!!!!
There are several paths but unless you know exactly what you are doing you’re just guessing. They all lead to the gorgeous falls. The walk is nice but the bugs are relentless. Take water and your time... there are food stalls and even a gentleman with his 2 alpacas you could take pics with **I’m including the pic of my bug bites the day after...It was so bad**

Wear comfortable shoes, carry a light backpack to take water, food and wet wipes.
You can spend hours at the park, its very scenic and peaceful.... It's also near the Condor Park.

Peguche is a nice place near Otavalo. The waterfall is wonderful and it was not too crowded. You can walk on different paths and could have lunch as well.

Okay it's not the largest or greatest waterfall that you will ever see but when on a day trip from Quito it is a pleasant addition. It's about a 30m drop followed by smaller cascades. You get a short 10 minute walk to stretch your legs and it is quite photogenic. There are a few shops and cafes for a break if you need. Would not go just for the waterfall though. Impression we got was that everyone was on a day trip and this was one of the things on the itinerary.

We were staying at a hacienda in Otavalo and the manager printed of a walk to the waterfall for us. The waterfall was delightful with lots of families enjoying the area but it certainly wasn't overcrowded. I'd highly recommend it for a day out.
At the base of the waterfall there is a small square with a few rustic bars.
