We were staying at a hacienda in Otavalo and the manager printed of a walk to the waterfall for us. The waterfall was delightful with lots of families enjoying the area but it certainly wasn't overcrowded. I'd highly recommend it for a day out.
At the base of the waterfall there is a small square with a few rustic bars.

This was an easy walk. I did not go all of the way around the falls but my daughter did and found it enjoyable. Bring a change of clothes - you will get wet and its chilly!

The falls are ok. Easy nice trail. The small collection of buildings at the start of the trail are very cool. Our guide told us the 2nd arch are the remnants of a 17th century building were the locals were made to weave for the Spaniards in slave like conditions.

After visiting the waterfalls we spent a very enjoyable hour in a nearby small town watching and learning from an 84 year old back strap weaver and his family. Town was Agato, Beautiful tapestries.
