“Great roomy villa, very well kitted out with the perfect pool for kids.”

We stayed here for a week with a 6 year old and 9 year old. Villa is well laid out with everything required for a relaxed family break. Plenty of space for everyone to do their own thing. Great pool which the kids loved.

A car is necessary but plenty to do within easy driving distance from water park to boat trips, dolphin swimming and lovely places to eat. Had some lovely bbqs in the evening. In close vicinity to good choice ofshops for self catering.

“Great location, great villa, great price”

Mavi Villa is a great find, and we strongly recommend it.

The location is excellent, perched on the hillside a 10 minute walk up from Kadikalesi beach. This means the beach is easily accessible, but you're not subject to the noise from some of the package hotels. I recommend a sunset beer on the bean bags at Kekik, a friendly and low-key beach bar with a wonderful view. We hired a car which was handy for supermarket trips but not really necessary if you're not planning on exploring too far. It's a pleasant 40 minute walk along the beach to Turgutreis (a handy town for shopping and ATMs, but beware of Brits abroad eating all-day breakfast), or a very short dolmus ride to Gumusluk for a much prettier, smaller village with some good food and beautiful clear water. We recommend Gumuscafe for food - keep walking along the seafront to the right and it stands apart from all of the other restaurants, both geographically and in terms of quality. Also recommend walking round the headland to the right of the village for secluded coves and calm, blue sea which you have to yourself.

The villa itself is comfortable and well equipped. The bedrooms all have outdoor access for watching the sunset, and the pool is surrounded by a spacious terrace with a large, shady table to eat at. The garden is full of flowers. One real positive is that the pool area is not overlooked at all. The plots to both sides of the Villa have not been built upon, and while there is another building in front, it doesn't have windows on the back which maintains your privacy. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you need, including a dishwasher which is always nice on holiday.

Joe provided excellent service when we were booking, as well as comprehensive information about the villa and area. We were really impressed by how professional the booking process was - thanks Joe and Sultan.

An additional tip - we secured cheaper flights by booking a package holiday through Thomas Cook, and not using the hotel. This worked out £50 cheaper per person than booking flights only!

“Very well equipped, modern villa with lovely views of the islands”
Reviewed 28 August 2013 for a stay in August 2013

We had a good holiday at Mavi Villa. The villa was well equipped, modern and had everything we needed including a pool, new for this holiday season. It was situated in a quiet area, a short climb from the main road.
Joe, the owner, was really helpful when we booked the villa and helped arrange our transfers which was much appreciated and was prompt to solve a few minor problems during our stay through the villa manager.
After experiencing two visits to Kalkan in previous years we did not know how the local area would compare. We were a little disappointed with Kadikalesi beach itself. It was very cramped and not very clean. We ventured to Turgetreis for the beach which was on the whole cleaner and not as busy. Watersports at Turgetreis are available for those who want to do more than sit and sunbathe. Not hiring a car we used the dolmus most days which run frequently along the main road and are very reasonable in cost.
Gumusluk and Yalikavak were quieter and prettier resorts reminding us more of Kalkan however be careful of the lure of restauranteurs on the front at Gumusluk, We ended up spending a small fortune for one meal by being lured into tasting the little extras they bring to your table and how many people a sea bass would serve!
Boat trips are offered from Turgetreis which offer good value for money but again be cautious of the charm and patter of the salesmen. We were told we would be taken to the north islands but ended up going south which we had already experienced on a trip the week before!
Ephesus is a must though there is a lot of travelling and unnecessary visits to gold and turkish delight shops if you book with one of the tour companies.
Although the villa was lovely, we found the area too commercialised for our taste and for this reason alone would not visit the area again.

Thank for your review. We note your comments about Kadikalesi beach, which it is true is not a large beach. However, we have always found it to be clean (apart from seaweed) and a local and welcoming place. We are sorry to read that you found the area to be commercial. Mavi Villa itself is situated in a quiet non-commercial residential area. The more commercial area of Turgutreis is a 5-10min bus or car ride away, which means that the villa offers the best of both worlds. We hope you continue to enjoy many wonderful holidays in lovely Turkey. Joe and Sultan
