Just been for a Bank Holiday treat but was left vert disappointed. Food very bland and some of the staff totally uninterested, tables left uncleared. Menu's were changed on all tables apart from the one we were using. Waitress was nice but unfortunately food was appreciated more by our dogs, won't be using again

We were out for a quick 5 mile walk along the canal alongside where the pub is situated.

On arrival, we debated whether or not to sit outside but decided that it was just a little too cold but would be lovely on a warmer day.

The pub itself was very warm. We approached the bar & a waitress acknowledged us then served meals to a couple before taking our drinks order.

We sat down & were impressed by the varied menu & the 'specials' selection so it took us a little while to decide what to have!

My companion went to the bar to order our meals & on her return mentioned how unfriendly & stand-offish the lady was who took our order!

Our meals came out quickly, served by the original waitress who was genuinely friendly.

My friend has Whitby scampi which she really enjoyed. I had chicken & mushrooms with stilton.......the chicken was beautifully moist & the balance of stilton to mushrooms spot on; both meals came with a generous side salad & lots of chips.

We felt that both meals were really good value for money for the size of portion.

When we went to pay our bill, we were served by the lady who took our order & asked to pay separately which seemed to be a problem for her. She ripped off a bit of till roll & worked out how much we owed. I paid & she asked my friend if she was paying by card too when she confirmed this, the woman rolled her eyes!!!

We assumed that as this lady was not in uniform that she was management, if so, then she should learn about customer service from her waitress!

We were not thanked for our custom from the manager but were thanked by the waitress despite the pub now being busy-she is a credit to the pub!

We will return again but it is a shame that management can let a place down, very sad after how nice the setting & food was!

Went here for lunch with my hubby, the pub was warm and welcoming and staff polite.we had the 'sunday best' which was a roast with the trimmings,2 large yorkshire puds, chicken, beef and pork slices and a cauliflower cheese accompanyment. The veg is unlimited so if you want more its yours, all this for £10.95 was well worth the money and it was cooked beautifully. The pub is next to the canal it's a lovely setting to have a relaxing meal i highly recommend a visit.

I called in with my walking group ordered our food which was lovely when it arrived....as we were about to leave this lady came over to our table & said "next time can you ring ahead & book a table " granted we were a group of 10 but we did ask if that was ok....she was quick to take our money...don't worry we will not be back!!!

We popped in for lunch for three. The bar man was very friendly and helpful when it came to selecting our drinks and choice of food.
The waitress was also very friendly, polite and helpful. The food was very good, I had the fish and chips and would recommend this. The others had a beef burger and a chicken wrap and they would also recommend these.
