We have just returned from a week's stay at the Asterias hotel. Definitely would recommend. Initially a little concerned about mixed reviews but nothing to worry about.
Hotel had a 'home from home' feel. The staff on arrival at Reception were very friendly and helpful, and during our stay booked taxis and gave helpful advice.
Hotel rooms were very clean and smelt lovely each day. Fresh towels daily. Hairdryer provided was very helpful.
Food selection each day for breakfast, lunch and dinner was great - a lovely selection (with a particular cuisine theme each night). However, would comment that food didn't have much taste although lovely choice. White chocolate mousse pots with a chocolate sauce topping was a favourite, along with beautiful water melon! Food was plentiful - although could be a little dried out if you came down to breakfast at the last minute before they closed at 10.
Please be careful of the 'all inclusive' package - we wasn't aware there were two tiers of All Inclusive when we booked. We were the 'basic' package - if you want premium/branded items you need the next level up. We wasn't even aware of this when we booked with our travel agent.
Hotel conveniently situated to a most beautiful beach - the crystal clear, turquoise sea was lovely (and safe for children) - a really lovely experience and a definite plus. Sun loungers and parasols available for a charge. Very hot so take sun screen. Beach bar available. Beach/pool towels provided by the hotel each day - which is nice as you always have a clean towel.
Only negative was the evening entertainment - there was some provided, but was rather brief and this could be a downside if you're expecting more and to be a main part of your holiday evening.
Ayia Napa nearby by bus or taxi - good for a busier/nosier evening.
Trips to Famagusta, water light show rather good. The nearby waterpark a very good day out if you like that sort of thing - challenging rides. However, very expensive. £100 roughly for x1 adult and x2 children!
Would go again - but other places to see!
