The Lakeside Gargen Retreat is a wonderful place to stay. The grounds are magnificent and is ideal for a getaway that will remove and stess you may have. Charles and Sally are wonderful hosts and they have setup the unit to make you feel at home. We'll be back to this wonderful place. Wish I could give this place more stars.
Stayed two nights to support son competing in National Mountain Bike competition. Superb accommodation out of town set in magnificent garden with numerous friendly blue Wrens. Additionally Charles and Sally were outstanding hosts, even washing dirty clothes of tired riders and providing late check-out. Highly recommended and preferred accommodation on next visit. Ken
Perfect hosts, Charles and Sally, welcomed us to their comfortable chalet (complete with welcome cookies, fruit, cereal and milk) which is surrounded by magnificent (world class) gardens and wonderful bird life. The wrens were particularly enjoyed by our family visiting from the U.S.A. who could not believe such a tranquil, beautiful and close to nature place could exist. To wander the peaceful gardens with many hidden treasures and hand feed the wrens was pure pleasure. We could have stayed a month! Very close to local attractions if you want to venture out, however, staying at the chalet with a nice cup of tea and cookie or a glass of wine enjoying the surrounds is very hard to beat! Don't hesitate to book this wonderful accommodation.
Splendid and Red Winged Wrens, Silvereyes, Red Eared Fire Tail Finch, Scrub Wrens and nearby Bronze-wing pigeons and Ring Neck Parrots. That was in the first 5 minutes! Wow - what a place.
Now for the record my partner and I, who spent 3 nights here are not twitchers. But you can't but run for the "Bird Book" on the coffee table here.
To say we were mesmerised by the Wrens feeding off our hands and many of the others off the deck rail is an understatement. Brilliant.
Charles and Sally were terrific hosts and have set up an apartment attached, but very private, under the roof of there property.
Their garden which we spent a morning walking around is beautiful and in October was in full bloom.
Very well appointed, very generous with all the brekky supplies and highly recommend Southern Roasters in town for coffee, the bakery for an on the road lunch and a very very tasty Tapas Wine bar in town for dinner.
We checked out all the local trees and dam and did a day trip to Windy Harbour. Salmon beach and the lookouts down there were amazing - saw our first ever Right Whale as well.
Highly recommend the property and region for a stay!
We travelled to Pemberton as a family of four adults. Charles contacted us prior to our arrival to give us some helpful directions. Charles met us on arrival and showed us around the apartment. It is a well appointed with two bedrooms, kitchen, living room with slow combustion fire, bathroom and deck overlooking the beautiful gardens. Nice touches include fruit in the fruit bowl, breakfast cereals, tea and coffee, and milk in the fridge. The whole house is made of rammed earth which makes the unit very peaceful and quiet. There was slight issue in that our adult children didn't really want to share a bed, but that was no problem and a comfortable portable bed appeared.
The next morning we have breakfast on the deck, and the only thing we could hear were the birds chirping and the bees humming. There are numerous wrens that will take the provided bird food from your hand. We had a walk around the gardens which are a testament to Charles and Sally's vision and hard work.
Our only regret about our stay is that it was only for one night. This is a place you should stay for a long weekend or week and relax.
