We absolutely loved this accommodation. We had everything we could have hoped for and the (new) couch was very comfortable. The gas log fire was easy to operate and put to good use on our winter holiday in Port Fairy. You couldnt get a better location as the main street was only a minutes walk away so all the beautiful restaurants of Port Fairy were easy to get to without having to start the car!
The property is gorgeous - a little cottage set in an orchard of fruit trees - would be amazing to see the trees in Spring and Summer, but just as impressive in winter. There were extra blankets supplied but I think blankets would be a great addition for winter visits, however, the fire kept the lounge room very warm! We were also allowed to stay until 12 noon on our departure day which was really handy as we were travelling with my elderly mother and it takes us a little more time to get ready - thank you! Loved the gorgeous crockery and we all had our favourite to use. I put photos on my facebook page and got many comments about how gorgeous the cottage was..
I would highly recommend this property which we found on AIRB&B and thought the rates were really reasonable and much more homely and more comfortable than a cabin in a caravan park!
This cottage is in a good location, only a 5-10 minute walk from Port Fairy's shops and restaurants. It has a lovely garden and the cottage itself has much rustic charm. HOWEVER, a lack of comfortable seating lets it down. It has a huge L-shaped sofa in the main living area which is worn, stained and consists of cheap foam cushions on a chipboard base. It was so uncomfortable and impossible to sit on for more than about 20 minutes at a time. If you are childless or have older children and plan to be out most evenings, then this cottage would be a good place to stay. On the other hand, if, like us, you have young children and are planning to spend your evenings watching movies curled up on the sofa, then I strongly recommend you rent somewhere else.
