“Fantastic cottage in a beautiful area”

We stayed at the Harbourside Cottage from 30th July to 6th August with our 2 young boys aged 6 & 4. We all had a great time. The cottage is light and spacious and decorated to a high standard. It was lovely to go on long days out to know you had the cottage to return to. My partner loved to sit looking out to sea on an evening and it was great to see the deer in the field at the back on a few occasions. We found the best beach was Rigg Bay which was accessible through Galloway House Gardens. Our boys loved it here and were very pleased to catch some crabs. Other great places to visit in the area are the Wildlife Park and chocolate factory at Kirkcudbright, the Dino Park & Mabie Farm Park at Dumfries. Portpatrick and Port William were also lovely villages to stop off at. All in all would thoroughly recommend both the cottage and the area.

And you will be most welcome! (You don't make it clear if it was the people enjoying the harbour with the glasses of wine or yourselves!!) See you again. XX

“Peaceful holiday base”
Reviewed 10 June 2016 for a stay in June 2016

We have just returned from a few days at Harbour Cottage. Perfect for a base to explore the area. So quiet and peaceful, views across the estuary are lovely, watch the tide come in and the birds on the sand flats. The field at the rear is a regular haunt for deer, we loved watching a mother and her fawn. There are some good walks from the cottage and the beach although not soft and sandy is good for rock pooling.
The is everything you need at the cottage, plenty of towels, kitchen roll, cloths, washing up liquid etc.. Shower is very good. Wifi is provided but it is slow so don't expect Superfast fibre. Watch your head if you are tall, low ceilings upstairs caught my husband out.
We took our dog, she loved the walks, there isn't a secure garden, just a small seating area at the rear where you park, this is accessed from the front door and then walk around the side, so if you have a dog with you be prepared to accompany your dog outside.
Garlieston has one pub, it offers pub grub, beer garden and is dog friendly. They also have a tearoom, we didn't eat there but the food looked nice. Wigtown and Newton Stewart have plenty of tea rooms and pubs/shops.
Betty and Cliff were great hosts and greeted us as agreed on arrival, they were happy for us to extend our stay so we could enjoy another day.

“Lovely cottage”
Reviewed 26 May 2016 for a stay in May 2016

We spent 3 nights in this lovely cottage. It is very well appointed, very colourful and cheerful. Nice and clean on arrival with everything we needed.
Plenty of space for everyone and a great layout. My girls both wanted to move in!
We use it as a base for visiting the area and catching up with friends.
We were very lucky with the weather, and enjoyed trips to the surrounding area.
