“The legendary unpretentious Kiwi Bach in a rockstar location ... a u beaut’ spot!👍”
Reviewed 18 February 2021 for a stay in February 2021

... perfect location to ride out Aucklands 3rd Covid lockdown. Gobsmacker location, views from Waitangi Treaty grounds to Black Rocks & Kerikeri entrance. Can literally surfcast fish from grass of front deck into the sea .. waves lapping at night are soulful. ... local wildlife are white tailed rabbits,Weka birds & Tui birdsong, seabirds abound ... we loved that. Grass reserve is the properties so secure boat & vehicle park. Heated outdoor shower ... clean, tidy, well equipped,360 degree deck, kayaks, dinghy and boat mooring directly in front of house. Multiple bush walks and Tapeka headland walk a must do ... world class Pacific seascapes! Catching pan sizes snapper literally 500 metres of the beach in our fizz’ boat. Russell just over the hill with all you need. Clive our host ... on time, great communication & very amenable host. We will return sooner than later!

Great little beach house in an perfect situation. The kayaks were great fun, the cove is also perfect for swimming. Very convenient for Russell which is a lovely little town.
Very clean and well equipped.

“Spectacular and relaxing”
Reviewed 7 May 2019 for a stay in March 2019

This was everything we wanted after three weeks travelling around New Zealand. The Bach itself had everything we needed, and more. Its quiet, relaxing and comfortable. It is a drive into town (and a walk over a hill we decided not to try), but its very short and easy drive and parking was never an issue.

Most importantly, it is on the beach and the views over the bay are amazing. The sunsets were spectacular and a wonderful way to end the day over a glass of wine.

Clive was a great host and did everything he could to accommodate.

“Wet, wet, wet!”

I booked this beach house with a view to finishing our holiday off on a high, ie, in an idyllic location which Tapeka Bach is but sadly the weather changed when we got there and we had 4 days of wind and rain. Obviously this is not the fault of the beach house but when it rains and rains you end up staying indoors longer than you normally would. We had no sleep the first night due to the draught coming through the small, ill-fitting window in the bedroom. We couldn’t air the place by opening the windows after cooking a meal as there was no dry air outside! We couldn’t dry the towels for the same reason. We tried watching a couple of DVD’s but they were so badly scratched they were unwatchable. One just kept repeating the first two minutes of the film and the second one froze 20 minutes into the film. This was very frustrating. The bach was very well equipped and if the sun had shone we would have had a fantastic time. We would have been oblivious to any faults in the beach house. It really is a lovely location and the bach is in a perfect spot. We were just very unlucky. If I returned to Russell I would definitely stay here again.

Management Response
25 Feb 2018
So sorry the storm impacted your stay. NZ weather can be as unpredictable as the UK but is usually good in Feb. The beach house is small and set up for guests to enjoy the outdoor living so we can understand cabin fever setting in. We have taken care of the issues you raised and are so pleased you want to return. We hope you can make it back again and we would be happy to offer a special deal so you can experience the magic in fine weather
