We stayed for three nights at Eden House in July 2014. The hosts, Richard and Carole, were fantastic. They were friendly and incredibly helpful in planning how to use our time in Whangarei and elsewhere in New Zealand. And the breakfasts were unbelievable! The house is gorgeous with fantastic views, and our room had a great view of the sunrise over the ocean each morning. We will definitely be staying here again on our next trip to New Zealand! Couldn't have picked a better place to stay.

Hi there,

Thank you so much for taking the time to give us a review. And wow! What a good one it is! It really is a buzz for us to get such feedback so it's really appreciated.

We hope your weather remained kind and not too cold for the rest of your trip in NZ, even if it was our winter. No doubt Winnipeg is now cooling down as you approach your autumn. We are looking forward to the summer as we've had so much rain this winter - the wettest July on record. We've been out in the garden pushing back the bush. You would see a big change now.

It would be lovely to meet you both again. But meanwhile, many thanks and warm fuzzies to you from us both.

This was our first night in a Bed and Breakfast on this visit to North Island. It was so good that a lot of other Bed and Breakfasts had a lot to live up to!
Richard and Carole were very attentive. They couldn't do enough for you but without overpowering you, their local knowledge was invaluable, providing maps and places to visit.
The breakfasts were unique, visibly stunning and filling! They really set you up for the day.
While there we left a shirt in the wardrobe and Richard very kindly packaged this up and sent it on to our new hotel.
We enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend it.

Thank you so much for taking the time to give a review. And what a lovely one it is! It's super to hear back from our guests.

So pleased you got your shirt back ok. Hope you had a good journey back to Cornwall.

The weather here has continued to be gorgeous and we're having a real Indian summer! It so nice to be able to sit outside in the warm and enjoy the views this late in Autumn. At least you will be heading into your summer and what a scenic place you have to spend it in. Have a good Easter and I hope you'll think of the good times and all the friends you made in New Zealand.

Warmest wishes from us both..

We stayed for 3 nights in January, 2014 with Richard & Carole. Our stay was all that you could want, wonderful hosts, excellent meals-including a Bhutanese meal and a very beautiful home. Each night we would have a glass of wine, sitting in the living room and conversing as old friends. We were at home with these gracious hosts. The accommodations are 1st class and we enjoyed every minute of our stay.

Hi guys,

Thank you so much for your review. It's lovely.

I hope New York isn't too cold as we've been hearing of storms sweeping the States? Inn on 2nd will certainly be on our bucket list if we ever manage to get to that side of the Atlantic. It was great hearing first hand what your city is like and has whetted our appetite! We've had a spell of gorgeous warm weather and even Carole has had a dip in the pool a few time! But the blue skies were punctuated by a short spell of heavy rain. The farmers were cheering and the plants in our garden have perked up. I was out this morning clearing up from the winds!

At least you will be soon into your spring and it's only three weeks and we are officially in Autumn! Where does the time go? And why are winters always longer than summer/

Good luck for 2014 and hope to see you both again one day, either here or in the States.

Warmest wishes from us both.

This is a wonderfully warm and welcoming bed and breakfast option. We stayed for three nights including Christmas eve and Christmas night. Richard and Carole made us feel so welcome and at home. Nothing was too much trouble for them. We had the most enjoyable Christmas dinner - lots of fun plus truly scrumptious food served in lovely surrounds. Breakfast is also delicious and extensive. The accommodation, facilities and surrounds are quality class. Both Richard and Carole are both interesting and fun people to be with. Whangarei area is a delight to visit. We could have stayed longer. If you are in the area - do yourself a favour and spend some time at Eden House.

Hi all,

It is so kind of you to post a review. And what a wonderful one it is! One of the big thrills of hosting is to know that guests have really enjoyed their stay and that gives us such a buzz.

We also enjoyed Christmas with you. It was so good that everyone joined in with the Xmas quizzes. Quite traditional really wasn’t it. Hope you had a safe journey back to Burleigh Heads and that your parents are fine and well?

Our summer has been super so far with sunshine, though not as hot as you in Aussie! But we have even braved the pool! Our criterion is that it must be 28C+…. Real wimps hey!

We wish you all well for 2014 and that the year brings you lots of good things.

Warmest wishes from us both at Eden. And thank you again.

My wife and I explored New Zealand for our three week honeymoon, and stayed at a dozen places from the Northland to Stewart Island. We both think that Eden House was by far the best stay we had.

There are many places in New Zealand with good facilities, good views, good food, and good service. Richard and Carole not only excel at providing each of these, they take pride in it and do it naturally. We stayed at a few homestays after Eden House and none of them felt quite as close to home.

Another guest joined the house on our 2nd day, just for overnight, and happened to be from New Zealand with some business in the Northland. He lauded that Richard's wonderful breakfasts were the reason he stayed there, and worth the price of the stay itself!

I won't speak more to the views and food, and instead let the pictures do the talking. Richard and Carole we can't thank enough though. A card and some bubbly for our honeymoon, splendid hospitality, and the priceless fondness of a few friends across the Pacific. Thank you both!

Hi both,

Wow! What a review. What can we say? Thank you so much. It is this feedback that really gives us a buzz and makes it wonderful for us to be a host. Although I have to admit the pleasure was also ours as it was a delight to have you stay. Your enthusiasm and natural enjoyment at being in New Zealand was so infectious.

We are watching the weather on TV in your part of the world and hope that it's not too cold in Seattle? All that snow seems such a long way off as we're still having great temperatures. In fact, even Carole is sampling the pool which is a comfortable 28C. Our big purge is on the garden which is growing weeds the size of small trees. Lots of pruning.

Hope you had a safe and comfortable trip back to the US and that all your memories will stay with you for a long married life.

By the way, the moonlight photo is fantastic! Would love a copy.

Warmest wishes from us both.

Eden House.
