We recently had a wonderful family lunch here at a trip in the Hunter Valley, with three adults and two children. All the dishes we had, including my beef cheek, were flavoursome and thoughtfully prepared. The restaurant itself was relaxing and spacious, with interesting antiques rooms and gardens to look at. The prices were quite reasonable given the quality of the meal. The only criticism I have is that when we were there, the space was quite cold, especially for my older mother.

I want to especially praise the wonderful service from Andre, who was warm and friendly, and took special care to make sure the kids were entertained and happy. Thanks!

It all started well, great looking menu and the staff were most helpful. From there it was all down hill with our only option at 6:30pm, a bit early but after a day in the vines, we were pretty hungry. The lovely young waitress accidently poured water over the entrée, quickly advising that it would be complimentary, that was completely forgotten come bill time and we were changed the full price, not a hint of living up to the poor performance. Then I found a metal shard in my mushrooms, quickly alerting the wait staff to the find and while most apologetic - my reward for all this... a Credit Card Surcharge!

I have to say, the food was full of Nitrogen this and Sous Vide that, but they have not even mastered a properly cooked steak, and not just any steak a 9+ marble wagyu... still poorly cooked. I suggest that this kitchen would fail the scrambled egg test for apprentice chefs, they failed all the basics. For the $250 meal for 2, which included only 1 glass of wine (and the Credit Card Surcharge) there are about a million other places that are about a million times better in the hunter valley. A most disappointing experience. It could have been that we were just "that" unfortunate table, that evening, but there is little excuse for a poor meal at any time. All the other stuff is just unfortunate. Try somewhere else ahead of this place, you will be glad you did.

Had an amazing meal here - 7 course tasting menu was delicious. Every course was delicious and beautifully plated. Wait staff were exceptionally pleasant. Would highly recommend this restaurant for the charm, food and service. Make sure you're hungry as the 7 courses were very generous serves.

Lunch today was the 7 course tasting menu with a central Otago Pinot Noir...

Each course, salmon, scallops, emu, cherry glazed duck, Waygu, plus a stunning dessert... were beautifully presented and flavoursome...

Totally recommended to any seeking taste sensations ....
