On approach to see this massive dish in the middle of the paddocks is an awesome and unforgettable sight. Learning what is done here was very interesting. Would recommend the 3D show (cost $7.50 or adult) The whole experience leaves you with a sense of wonder at what is out there in space and feeling a very very minuscule part of the whole

About 25 north of Parkes (between Dubbo and Parkes) is the big dish. I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the place and being reminded that we're just a small speck in this universe - and getting flash backs to the movie.

The gift shop and information centre is a good place to spend 30 mins. I also did the paid 3D video experience which was really interesting.

There is a good sized Cafe but I didn't stop in there so can't report on their coffee. There is a bit of a play park for the kids to run around in and free, clean toilets.

It's just off the main highway and we'll worth dropping in.

Great parking and fabulous view of the dish from car park.
Interesting information in the visitor centre. Well worth paying for the optional information videos- Puts a lot of things in perspective.
The real star is the dish, of course. Fantastic close up view of an Aussie legend.

This facility is probably the most visually impressive of the NSW observatories. It is a wonder to see. The visitor centre is informative and entertaining. The staff are fantastic. Great spot to spend an hour or so.

An excellent opportunity to see the star of ‘The Dish’ and learn about the history and contribution to science from this marvel of engineering located next to a sheep paddock. There are a number of displays and educational boards and activities to keep kids engaged and entertained. Also a cafe and gift shop on site. Once the visitors centre closes, you can still wander the grounds and see the telescope.
