An incredible rejuvenation of the harbour front area. It is clean, open and beautifully landscaped. Perfect for able bodied as well as those with mobility issues, prams and bikes as path is flat, even and wide. No shortage of bars and eateries and you can walk as far or as as little as you like. Great for viewing all the boats that use this harbour. A perfect place to relax and well serviced by public transport or parking the car.

The foreshore park was a lovely peaceful place to visit however since about March 2017 it has been virtually inaccessible so that the private company that runs V8 Supercars could tear out trees, put up barricades and now remove them. It is a disgrace that Destination NSW, Newcastle City Council and Coates Hire should be able to deny residents access to this once beautiful area. They will just get the place tidy again [minus many trees and grassed areas] and it will be on again for 2018. Appalling!

Lots of road works going on in the area at the moment, so be prepared and park a distance away. Having said that, the whole area is quite flat, so it is easy to walk both to the park and through it. The paths are easy to navigate, and as I work with people with disabilities including wheelchairs, the whole area is accessible. Plenty of amenities too, including toilets, bbqs and undercover areas.

Delightful park to take a break or just meander around, close to the city centre but far enough away to have some peace and quiet.
