Rooms freezing took time to warm them up. Would be nice if heaters turned on prior to people going in. Had to move rooms late at night due to neighbours music, Helpful staff but walls extremely thin. Quite an inconvience late at night then having to warm room up again. Overall really good would stay again

Thank you for taking the time to post feedback on your stay with us. In general in winter when people are arriving after 5pm we do put heaters on in rooms for arrival of guests after this time. It has been particularly cold so I am not sure what time you arrived but perhaps if it was the afternoon it was just extra cold that day. I am glad you enjoyed your overall experience with us and we do look forward to seeing you again in the future.

My adult son and I stayed here on two occasions in a different room each time. The first was just fine but with noisy neighbors on one night. The other did have the promised two beds but the second one was a twin rather awkwardly squeezed in next to the door. Space was also taken up by a kitchenette that we did not need or use. So check carefully on your room details. Staff was generally friendly but always seemed a bit rushed somehow. The breakfast buffet is great, but try to get a room rate that includes it. It's a bit pricey as an add-on. Parking is free but the lot is rather cramped. Watch your fenders. Overall for the price paid only 3 1/2 stars.

Room tip: Rooms vary and some are walk-ups so check your configuration in advance.

Thank you for taking the time to post feedback on your stay with us. We have many different room types and in future you can ask for 2 x queen beds if that would suit you better and specify you do not require a kitchenette no problem. Our staff are fantastic, I am surprised they seemed rush but it may have been a rare day where we had some staff of sick - I cannot comment. As you would see from comments on this site we normally have fantastic comments on our staff. I am glad you enjoyed the buffet and free parking. We do hope to see you again in the future.

Good location and great facilities. We were traveling with family and the hotel rooms were great for catching up and socializing and the hotel bar also had a great atmosphere. I would recommend this hotel for travelers or people on business.

Thank you for choosing to post feedback on your stay with us. Our location is perfect with just a short walk to Hagley Park, the Casino, Victoria Street restaurant, bars and Merivale shopping. I am glad you enjoyed our bar which has been developed by my father who is a little eccentric but really caught a good glimpse of the past kiwiana history. Thank you also for choosing to recommend us to others and we do hope to see you return again in the future.

Comfy bed, warm welcoming heater in the room, what more could you want ?
Well, a cosy bar and a nice pre-bedtime drink or coffee was just what the doctor ordered.
Breakfast was pretty standard fare, and the restaurant is a little dated , and the outside "conservatory" area is still on a bit of a slope post-earthquake which is a little off-putting.
Friendly and welcoming staff, and would stay here again.

The rooms were in the process of being refurbished and we were lucky enough to be the first occupants. The ammenities at the hotel cover all that you would need. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially the front office or reception.

Room tip: Newly refurbished room could not be faulted.
