We ventured to Brooklyn which is close to central Wellington but almost an hours drive from our home on the Kapiti Coast
The service was attentive and friendly. We had a delightful French Canadian young lady called Maude serve us, who was excellent, following up on questions we asked about the wine and some unknown ingredients on the menu. We had so many laughs with Maude , it added to our overall experience of a great night out .
The chefs at Salty Pidgin know food , it was well presented with amazing flavour combinations.
We had 3 courses, could not say no to the desserts!
We were able to relax and the food came out at a good pace, not too close together
Then off to a movie at the Penthouse nearby, all in all a perfect date night.

This place in deepest Brooklyn has been quietly earning a reputation for good and innovative food. Our party enjoyed a very good brunch there. The food is very good indeed. I had a breakfast pidé. This turned out to be a large piece of Turkish pizza bread rolled inwards on the diagonal to create a canoe like shape which was then filled with tomato, fennel bacon, eggs, and cheese with some herbs then baked. It was delicious; my own criticism was that it was almost too much for one person – even for a hungry male. Others had the cauliflower and asparagus soup with lime and a salad of lamb backstrap, and were well pleased with their choices. Service can be a little slow, and my first coffee was distinctly tepid even though it was delivered as soon as it was made (I watched). Overall a good addition to the suburban eating scene. It does dinner as well as lunch and prides itself on using sustainably grown, fresh, local food.

Went back 3 times in a week! What a gorgeous little find! The manager was really friendly and professional. The pizza pies are to die for 😋 we also loved the fried cauliflower was out of this world and sold out really quickly - make sure you place order as you arrive so that you get to experience this. We stayed for hours in this restaurant enjoying the stunning food , wine and atmosphere 💕🍾
