Chose hotel through Qantas booking for its very convenient location. Booked a 'Deluxe' room overlooking Southbank. Picture online showed what seemed to be a largish room with armchair. In reality it was a small room with no armchair. It wouldn't fit. Room was warm but the pokey ensuite was freezing - no heating. We were on the eighth floor where the water pressure was too low for the shower to operate properly. Good cafe and bar. Staff very pleasant but when we checked out it was perhaps significant that we were not asked if we enjoyed our stay. Perhaps the way the hotel has heavily discounted its rooms since we booked indicates that there are some problems to be addressed.

Room tip: I understand tat there may be better rooms. Don't be misled by terms like 'Deluxe".Interrogate booking staff.

I was disappointed to hear that the room didn’t live up to your expectations. We agree that some room layouts are smaller than others, and being 100 years old this year and heritage listed, we find that we have a large variety of room configurations available. We have attempted to ensure the layout of rooms are in the most practical and comfortable layout possible. Such a great experience, hotel staff were friendly helpful and a pleasure to deal with. The hotel in general and the heritage room were absolutely beautiful. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our night away and look forward to returning to the Rendezvous hotel Melbourne

The location is excellent (right across from Flinders St station). The historic bar and dome area, complete with photographs is beautiful. Friendly staff.
Rooms are very compact and not sound proof to the hallway. The sensor light in the room will disrupt the light sleeper if you partner uses the bathroom at night.
Good for overnight stays

I had a good experience at the hotel. I found out that the TV did not work well after I had checked in. I The remote control was faulty. Milan (employee in the hotel) assisted me and he was very patient. He came to check on the problem and returned with three remote controls shortly. Although Milan took some time to make sure the tv worked, he did not show signs of irritability when he was trying to solve the issue.
Milan was very approachable. He was professional too. Thank you, Milan.

Central location. Beautiful character building. Very friendly staff. Not too sure of room service, did not order any but concierge stillentered my room in the middle of the night in error, noisy activity from room next door
