“Ultimate beach house”

We stayed in November 2014 and have to say that Frances and Henry are the nicest people you will meet. We stayed for a week with a 4 year old and an 18 month old. Henry was great, he organised a highchair and portacot as well as a stair barrier. The place itself is awesome as can be seen from the photos. Although there were only two adults and two young children on our trip, the house could have a lot more people and still be comfortable. Everything you could possibly need is already there in the way of linen, kitchen utensils and appliances, washing machine, dryer etc etc. This could easily be a place were you never left.

However we decided to explore Hobart and the surrounding areas. One thing that must be noted is that this property is a good 30-40 minute drive from Hobart. This worked out well for us as the kids slept in the car when we drove to any of the attractions and then they slept in the car again on the way back.

The house itself is comfortable with several reverse cycle air conditioners which also heat downstairs and a large fireplace which easily heats the upstairs where the bedrooms are. The beach which is at the back door of the house is really kid friendly and would be perfect for the kids to swim in (although the water was too cold when we were there).

The house itself has more books and magazines than you could possibly read, as well as a pool table and piano if you are so inclined. There is a small take away/grocery shop nearby with a very good kids playground across the road from it. The location itself is a sleepy coastal village type area and it is impossible not to relax once you are there.

“SEASIDE PERFECTION”
Reviewed 12 December 2013 for a stay in December 2013

I organised this property for a Xmas party stay for 4 siblings and spouses (and the matriarch). It was one of the very few properties in Tassie that could accommodate all of us (11 in total - 5 couples). This place was perfect. What a beautiful secluded spot and so handy to Hobart and the airport. The house had one double downstairs with its own bathroom (with spa) and outside deck. Upstairs was 4 bedrooms and two bathrooms. Two of the bedrooms were smaller but quite adequate with queen beds and some cupboard space. There was an upstairs family area with big screen TV and PS2, WiFi machine. The main lounge is facing the beach and the view is just superb - from Opossum Bay point to the south sweeping across north Bruny and up to Taroona. The beach is lovely and we saw a pod of dolphins of the rocks about 100 metres south of the house. The main dining room off the kitchen had a large wooden table and large wood fire. There is a separate billiard room off the dining area. The BBQ area is outside the dining area which was very convenient. Throw in central heating and massive views every where you looked, a lovely rambling garden and seating everywhere and you have a perfect spot for a big group to sprawl out and find peace or have a ball as you fancy. Frances and Henry were charming and will look after you. The local shop is a short walk and they stock groceries, papers, fresh bread and take aways. There are absolutely beautiful coastal walking tracks everywhere nearby. As an aside two of us went off each day for 9 holes at the Iron Pot Golf Club. A bit scruffy but quite long and a barrel of fun really. Make sure you pay though as they do police the honour system and if you don't the guy on the quad bike is not to be trifled with. All in all a wonderful place to get away from it all and be close enough to drop in to Salamanca or MONA if you want to go for a drive. Worth the money for sure. Be aware that the stairs up to the second floor are a little steep and turn so not for the very elderly or those with physical disabilities unless they are quartered downstairs - fine for anyone else.
