Staying in Townsville for a couple of nights the Mercure was a good choice. Although not perfectly positioned for the centre of town it does have some lovely surroundings being so close to the lakes and is only a 15 min drive to the waterfront. The room was basic but clean and well appointed for disability access. They could do with a little TLC. The pool is easily accessed but there is no shade at the height of the day. The staff were very helpful when we had any queries and the on-site Celsius restaurant offered some very tasty meals.

If a warm welcome makes you feel good, these people know how to do it.
Couldn’t have asked for more.
The hotel itself it’s the the most glamorous, but hey, it wasn’t expected to be.
The rooms are adequate, even in the basic rooms & the restaurant does good food.
Maybe could have warned us we’d be sharing with the 2 football teams playing this weekend!! All good. Thanks for the hospitality.
