Coming from a cold southern Winter we were allocated a ground floor room on Davidson Street that got NO direct sunlight in any part of the day. While the room was generously proportioned the tile grout was well in need of a steam clean. The new shower was wonderful. Inclusions such as free washing facilities, drying line and pegs was appreciated. We had a clean half way through our six day stay but empty pizza and wine boxes remained. It is well positioned to Macrossan Street. Friendly staff.

We were warmly welcomed by the receptionist upon arrival, which was a promising start to our 4 day stay here. Unfortunately, it went downhill from here .. the studio room was extremely basic, the whole place stank of bleach, the hot water system only provided warm water for 2-3 mins.. we tried to have a bath and 1) there was no plug so we had to ask and she reluctantly delivered to our door, 2) the hot water system only provided hot water until about ankle deep so it wasn’t even worth it. Then there was a towel situation.. you have to pay for towels because they only provide fresh ones every 5 days.. on top of that we had to go and get them, rather than have them delivered to our room. They don’t clean your room or make your bed, which is fine but not what you would expect from a hotel.

On the plus side, they have a nice pool and the location from the shops was an easy 5-10 min stroll.

Stayed as a family with teenage daughters.
The place is quiet at night which makes for a good sleep.
Unit and resort were all kept very clean.
Heated pool was a real hit with everyone. Kids spent hours in there.
Friendly service - gave us a late check out and allowed us to use the pool whilst we waited for our transfer bus.
An easy 8-10 min walk to town. Closer to beach.
Would recommend to anyone not wanting to pay top dollar for something closer to town or upmarket.

Located a modest 10 minute walk into town right on the main thorough-fare into Port Douglas, Bay Villas is a quality motel of several storeys (no lifts). Spaces seem cramped, not least the need to manoeuvre the car to access the tight parking spaces. In our studio apartment the bathroom was tiny, especially the shower recess. It had, however, a small full-size kitchen. The motel had a feel of quality about it and the manager was pleasant and helpful. Would I stay here again? No.

Room tip: Avoid upper levels if there is a lot of luggage.
