“Third stay - still love it!”

This is our third stay in Beach Villa 314 at Sea Temple & we definitely plan to return for a fourth at some point! It's great to return to somewhere you know & find it just as you remembered.

Helen responds to any enquiries quickly & makes the bookings process easy. She offers a 'faves' list for the Port which is up to date & gives great ideas for things to do during your stay.

The villa is so comfortable, spacious & well located at the resort, it's easy to stay put & just relax by the pool or wander over to the bar for a coffee or cocktail. It is worth getting out & about in Port Douglas though, as there are so many great places to eat & take in the lovely views around the town.

“Spacious private villa beautifully presented. Close to beach with great resort facilities and staff on the doorstep.”

Close to beach with great resort facilities and staff on the doorstep. We loved exploring the snorkelling, tree surfing and Port Douglas markets. Port Douglas a short 5 min drive away.

“Nice property but quite a few maintenance issues”
Reviewed 6 August 2017 for a stay in July 2017

We stayed as a family of 4 for 10 days in July/Aug 2017.

This is a nice property as per photos. It is part of a large managed hotel/villa complex with neighbouring villas (we had good neighbours for 8 nights but noisy ones the last night, you take luck of the draw as they are quite close).

Port Douglas is great, we've been a couple of times before and this location is as good as any - everywhere is a short drive into town. The owner seemed very nice and left some really detailed restaurant and day out receptions which we found helpful. Our days and evenings out were all great.

The villa has one enormous bedroom and 2 good sized doubles. Downstairs is well laid out and really roomy. Really we ought to be giving a 5 star review but there were quite a lot of maintenance issues when we were there:

- the electric went out once through the house and again downstairs only 2 nights later;
- one of the upstairs TVs was missing/broken when we arrived (replaced a day or so later). The downstairs TV broke whilst we were there (and was replaced with a smaller one).
- we had cockroaches in the master bathroom for the first few nights. The owner had the bathroom resprayed which we appreciated which solved the problem.
- a few flickering lightbulbs;
- the barbecue grill was filthy so we just didn't use it;

When we checked in the reception desk was at pains to say that the owner of 314 is the only one to manage their own maintenance - with hindsight I wonder if they were covering themselves from the off. In the final event however the staff could not have been more helpful when we had problems (they dried our laundry, they found the power trip switch etc).

Nothing above was a catastrophe. But we payed $750 a night and really at this price fewer things should have gone wrong.

Lastly on a fiddly detail nothing to do with maintenance the whole set up with the wifi (big deal for the kids, I got sick of hearing the moaning) is odd...you need to register for a passcode with reception paying as if a hotel guest even through the villa has its own signal. I'm still not sure if I actually paid for it or not but it was frustrating to do on arrival and then again 7 days later when all the codes expired. Clear instructions from the owner would have been welcome.

Management Response
11 Aug 2017
Thank you Mark and again, my sincere apologies for the problems you encountered. It seems a series of mains power surges were responsible for all the electrical issues, including the TVs. This, along with the cleaning and wifi have been addressed. The pest control was only 6 months into a 12 month warranty period, so that too has been resolved. We will continue to monitor and ensure we present out property to the high standard we - and our guests expect.

“Spacious Villa”
Reviewed 16 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

My husband and I stayed here for a week this month. The villa is very spacious and probably much larger than we really needed but was so nice to have the space after being in hotel rooms for a couple of weeks. The villa was clean on arrival. There was an issue with the inside water feature but the maintenance people at Sea Temple fixed it to our satisfaction very promptly. Helen was always available for any questions I had.
Wifi is available through the resort though I found it it unreliable. Slow and dropped out a lot. If you are an Accor card holder you get this complimentary so make sure to present your card to the resort.
I would return as I loved being so close to the beach and being able to walk to get a coffee in the mornings and to dine at night at The Beach Shack.

“Excellent Place”
Reviewed 3 November 2015 for a stay in October 2015

Went with my husband and toddler. Had a comfortable stay at this villa. Its spacious and clean. Well maintained and located conveniently near the beach. Has a private pool. There is also a really nice jacuzzi in the master bedroom. The kitchen is well equipped and bathrooms are real nice and clean. Helen, the owner was very helpful . Always prompt to reply to my emails, any questions I had. She helped book my rental car and gave useful information on the local restaurants and cruise options.

If we were to go visit Port Douglas again, this villa would be our first choice for stay.
