“Lovely Gardens and Fantastic Hosts”
Reviewed 8 August 2016 for a stay in September 2015

We stayed here as part of a wider trip around Australia and it did not disappoint. Surrounded by greenery, it was like waking up in a beautiful rainforest. We were well looked after during our stay with some recommendations from our hosts (Mark and Fairlie) on what to do but making our morning each day was the fabulous breakfast hamper that was prepared for us (customised to our preferences) at a time that suited, and left outside our room amidst the glorious surroundings. On the day we left Fairley provided a hamper that we could take away with us for the road which was full of treats and was perfect while waiting to board early in the morning.
If you want to get a little out of the backpacker hustle and bustle of central Cairns, but still want to be nearby, we'd definitely recommend Tabu.
(it's been quite a while since we stayed, but better late than never!)

“Beautiful & quiet”
Reviewed 10 July 2016 for a stay in July 2016

We stayed at Tabu B&B for 3 nights over Easter and enjoyed the experience very much. The room is very clean & tastefully decorated, the view into the tropical garden is wonderful and the semi-outdoor bathroom is lovely. Breakfast was delicious: Tropical fruit, homemade muesli and fresh bread and served on the deck outside. There is a little coffee machine too, so you can make your own coffee which we loved. We were very happy with our choice to stay a little outside the city centre of Cairns. You do need a car to get around but it is an easy drive into town for dinner, reefe cruises etc. It's a great place to stay if you value peace & quiet over nightlife & crowds. The hosts, Fairly & her husband were absolutely wonderful and did everything to make our stay comfortable. They gave us some good recommendations for restaurants & places to go also. We would definitely stay here again when we come to Cairns next time.

“Absolute Paradise!”

Tucked away in the serene rainforest backdrop of Freshwater, Tabu Bed & Breakfast is a one-of-a-kind testimony to the marriage of spectacular landscape design, luxurious interior furnishings, understated elegance, seamless blending of beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces, and graciously warm and welcoming hosts. This is truly a horticulturalist's dream, a nature-lover's delight, and a B&B afficiando's must-see. With only one luxuriously appointed pavilion-style guest room, you can easily enjoy complete privacy in the stunning tropical gardens & pool area with access to the outdoor BBQ and wood fire pit. Or share your time, stories & travel tales with the owners, Mark & Fairlie, who are both very interesting, talented, creative and well-traveled.

With Limberlost Garden Center & Vines Cafe just around the corner, the Freshwater Railway Station (with Barron's Bistro serving delicious breakfast/lunch/dinner) around the bend, The Villages of Freshwater and Stratford minutes away, and easy access to/from Captain Cook Highway/A1 and Highway 91, Tabu offers all the elements for a lovely romantic weekend getaway and truly feels a world away from Cairns, though only 10-15 minutes from the airport or City Centre.

Tabu B&B ticks all the boxes and is highly recommended for a relaxing and inspiring escape from it all!

“Think idyllic tropical island without leaving Cairns”
Reviewed 5 June 2016 for a stay in May 2016

A private tropical garden, amazing pool and first class room. Mark and Fairlie are down to earth, great fun and non-intrusive. A short walk to Freshwater railway station, convenient bus service and easy access to all attractions. Our expectations of Tabu were high and easily surpassed. As a great man often said, "do yourself a favour"

“Best B&B I've been experienced”
Reviewed 9 May 2016 for a stay in April 2016

Mark and Fairly were wonderful hosts and very helpful with any little thing. Super comfortable suite and beautiful tropical gardens. The breakfast was plentiful, delicious and always at the time you elected to have it (Thanks Fairly for the early breakfast before our reef trip). My wife and I loved our visit and will definitely stay here again if/when we return to Cairns.
