We booked into this restaurant with high expectations....alas....this would have to be the most underwhelming dining experience we have ever endured. On arrival the grumpy hostess was less than impressed that we had chosen to leave our phones in our room so we could enjoy a night without interruption. She had to unfortunately enter our details into the covid app manually. We certainly felt her absolute displeasure in having to do this. We were then directed to our table in the failing light in a dark corner that was so black we had to use the table led lights to read the menu and wine list. To have a discussion was impossible as the place was that noisy that you had to actually shout across the table. We chose our pre dinner drinks including a cocktail.... that didn't go well as the bar had run out of condiments....really!!!!. We had to ask for the 3 course menu as it was not even offered. My second drink was ordered and summarily forgotten and I had to request it again. The banquette seating was low and hard without any cushions for back support to at least fill in the gap behind you. I did think that hopefully the much talked up food was going to alleviate some of the less than expected journey so far. 2 minature bread rolls....olive oil (the tide had run out) and a teaspoon of Dakar at best. Just enough for one roll really. We shared the platter for the next course ....sadly our individual plates arrived with our main course. We shared the platter on the board it arrived on. The platter....4/10 at a pinch. When the steaks arrived the waiter did not know which steak was which as he hastily dropped them on the table stating that the "plates were heavy".....clearly frustrated and annoyed with us....we were not the chef so we did not know which steak was which. We almost walked out at this point. We had to exchange our own steaks as they were wrong anyway. The much talked up sirloin's were tough and both overcooked. Go to Wollies where you can get a way better steak!!. To pay nearly $50 for something you could use as a car tyre is just so wrong. The side of roast pumpkin and greens was actually stone cold and disgusting.......I think the kitchen failed to hit the go button on the microwave when they took it out of the fridge. Then we asked for a glass of Chardonnay....there was none but an alternative offered....we were later to find this on the bill as...get this...$30 for the glass for 250ml.....talk about up-selling to unsuspecting customers. Our fault as I should have asked first. So for the table bill.....nearly $250 for 3 courses with sparkling water....3 spirits....and an overpriced glass of white wine. Absolute rubbish. Never again. Please go elsewhere if dining in Cairns and get pleasant service and a way better meal in a better atmosphere. CC's ....sadly you failed to impress and we will never ever come back.
