Very quiet, easy parking, lots of different types of exhibitions. Some exhibitions are free and are really good.

Turn off the beaten path at the Library, walk through the park and stop in to the NSW Art Museum. The collection is small but you can enjoy the interior architecture of the building because it is uncluttered. The Australian paintings are beautiful and downstairs the Aboriginal Fruit Bat Clothes Line is very cool! And it is FREE!

A great spot to spend a few hours indoors and get a culture fix. If its nice outdoors it would be better to take your own picnic or eat at the cafe in the Botanic Gardens just across the road from the main entrance as the cafe is more cafeteria than cafe.

Entry is for free and you see so much amazing art! There is also an aboriginal art section, which is great. The ArtExpress exhibition was fascinating!

If you ever thought you had eaten the definitive Ham and pickles with baked vegetables, then pause a moment: you haven't tried the Art Gallery's new People's Restaurant. Yes, you have to queue up and collect your own cutlery and paper serviettes. Then you have to make a dash for a vacant table,

The view across Woolloomooloo to Potts Point and Kings Cross is sensational. You can look out on the Naval Base and check out any of the fleet that is in town. You can sit outside, or inside. There are high tables and stool, there are intimate small tables and chairs. There are long communal bench tops to spread yourselves and you food on.

They do a half decent coffee or chai latte even, on soy if you want. They have a delicious selection of cakes, some are gluten free, so everyone is happy.
