Me and my wife have just returned from a three day weekend break to Turi Beach Resort and we really enjoyed our stay.
The resort is big, well kept and has a good variety of amenities and facilities which add a nice bit of variety throughout the day. We paid a bit more to stay in one of the larger rooms and it was well worth it. Our apartment had two large rooms and two large bathrooms. It was well furnished with comfy chairs, loungers and had a spacious private balcony with dining table and outdoor lounger. Inside, we had all of the standard facilities that you'd expect - fridge, kettle, TV, safe etc. The rooms were clean and well maintained by the cleaning staff throughout our stay.
I mentioned that the resort as a whole had a good variety of amenities. There are half a dozen different restaurants and bars, some of which rotate their offering so that options change throughout the week. The Taming Sari cafe offered particularly high standards with a good menu and quality food - this is also where breakfast is served, which is of similarly high quality. There are two swimming pools - one with a bit more character (sculpted shape with nooks and crannies) and the other a bit more standard (straightforward rectangle). Around the pools there is a good set of seating options - sheltered lounges, chairs and even the odd hammock....Me and my wife have just returned from a three day weekend break to Turi Beach Resort and we really enjoyed our stay.

For all that Turi Beach has these qualities, there are so many really obvious areas for improvement that I did consider only marking it a 3/5 but I thought that would be unfair.
The main problem I had during my stay was service. I feel quite bad saying this as they were all really nice - but it was so often ineffective or hard to get what we wanted. The worst was one evening when we tried to order a few beers to the room and the lady on the phone was impossible to communicate with. Not just the language barrier which of course they could be forgiven for, but she was just barely responsive and not thorough at all. We waited and nothing came, so I had to ring back and after 10 minutes I was none the wiser whether she understood my order or not. She ended up routing my call through to front desk who handled it in two minutes.
There were other areas where the service wasn't all it should be. Again, always very friendly but not often effective. I found that in general the staff were quick to say hello but weren't very intuitive at getting you what you need. On more than one occasion they seemed to misunderstand whether we'd seen a menu, ordered food etc. which meant we had to prompt them that we need service. Similarly, it was sometimes tricky to get a drink. We'd ask but they'd respond in such a way that it was totally unclear whether they knew what we wanted or not.
Service isn't the other improvement area. The Indonesian BBQ was a bit of a let down. First of all, it wasn't very Indonesian. The menu included Jamaican Chicken, Viennese Potato, Chicken Tikka Kebabs etc. Second of all, the 'open flame' was pretty much in the background - it wasn't really a feature of the event. Finally, the variety was quite poor for something of this nature - there was only one type of rice, one type of noodle. Usually you get a few choices. Incidentally, we also failed to order a drink throughout the whole meal as the water server seemed to misunderstand our request and nobody ever came to serve us!
Other niggles are minor - there should be more hooks to hang things in rooms, the Island bar could be a real highlight but it doesn't open long enough and they don't put enough decent tables/chairs out etc.
By and large it is a really nice place and well looked after. I found it difficult to rate because some of the improvement areas are really basic and should be there for a 4 or 5 rated hotel. Hopefully the management will improve a few of these areas to make it genuinely worthy of this level.More
