Rooms are large and comfortable, furnished with local materials and cloths, withal necessary services and toiletries. Restaurant serves good helpings of sensible food, often sourced locally .Dinner menu gives a wide choice and breakfast is more than adequate, all at reasonable cost.

Room tip: If handicapped, ask for ground floor or wing with lift!

Stopped here for one night on the way to Scotland. We hadn't booked but the receptionist put us in an upgraded room which was very comfortable, clean and a very nice bathroom. The lounge area was very cosy with a log fire and snacks from the bar. Breakfast was buffet style with plenty of choice and very good quality. Obviously more expensive than a normal services but we'll worth the cost. Would definitely stay again.

An excellent stay where the service was outstanding and we had a superb room. Well worth staying if travelling North or South. The service and attitude of the staff was outstanding and the log fire added to the ambience.

Room tip: most rooms have an excellent view and no traffic noise

I visited Tebay on a recent trip to the highlands. It makes quite a nice stop being half way up from London.
It's a great hotel. Staff are lovely and the rooms are way beyond anything you'd get in the same price range.
The best bit though is that they have cafetières in the room with decent ground coffee. It's a really nice touch and made my early morning far more bearable.

Popped in today on our way up to Scotland.
I wouldn't normally write a review of motorway services but its very clear these are not normal services. Someone puts a lot of effort into making them a great place to stop.
Food is your normal services cost but its much better standard being locally sourced.
Overall a pleasant change to the norm.
