“A jewel in the stunning Fife countryside”

Carphin House is a showstopper from the drive up to the house. Approaching through the surrounding Fife countryside you are perfectly isolated without being far from the history of St. Andrews, the beautiful Tay Estuary and the hustle and bustle of Dundee and Edinburgh.

We were greeted by Ian and Ruth who were a great hosts and gave us a tour of the property. All the bedrooms were well sized and had amazing antique furniture as well as stunning views of the surrounding countryside. My bed was very comfortable and I slept very well. The bathroom attached to my room was huge and comprised a bath and separate multi-headed shower.

The reception rooms were comfortable and still retained a lot of period features but with all the comforts of home. The dining room was particularly stunning with a table which easily seated our party of 14. The kitchen comprised an Aga and two ovens with a large fridge and a country farmhouse table where we had breakfast each morning.

The gardens and surrounding countryside are definitely worth exploring and offer challenging or more sedate walks dependent on how adventurous you are feeling.

A great weekend was had by the whole party and we are already thinking of planning another visit next year. Well done Carphin House - a jewel in the stunning countryside of Fife.

“Amazing country house set in beautiful grounds near St Andrews”
Reviewed 9 July 2017 for a stay in June 2017

Carphin House is a great location for a getaway with friends as all bedrooms are en-suite and the communal areas are very spacious including a cosy country kitchen, with long table - perfect for breakfast. There is also a formal dining room, drawing room and lounge area which are all perfect for large groups .

The house is full of antique furniture, old books and interesting features (worth checking out some of the books in the drawing room!). House sits on a slope which gives great views over the countryside, particularly from the upper bedrooms.

Grounds are extensive and picturesque and set back from the road so the only disturbance is occasional mooing from neighbouring cows.

Good for groups of friends, families and away days. Owners are really flexible and have lots of contacts so they can bring in caterers, hot tubs(!) or anything else you might want.

“Beautiful house, wonderful stay”

I stayed here with my extended family to celebrate being together over the Christmas period, and it was absolutely perfect!

The house is beautiful....the kitchen is large and is fully stocked with every utensil you could wish for....it was perfect for feeding the five thousand....a thousand times over!
The bedrooms are spacious with wonderfully comfortable beds and each one has an en-suite!
The reception rooms and grounds are stunning and everything was absolutely spotless.

The hosts made the booking so straight forward and went over and above to help us when some family members got lost!!

I couldn't recommend this highly enough. Thanks for an unforgettable stay!
