Went to this place for lunch with our kids after discovering the village, its castle and surroundings. Actually we wanted to hit Cova da Loba but they were fully booked so we had to return with a booking for dinner (which we regretted the day after but that's a different story). So the Taverna was our second option and we got the last table on a Saturday in mid march. Mostly Portuguese people were having their meals around us and as the weather was pretty inhospitable we were obviously pleased with a warm place and the huge chimney in the back of the small and rustic dining room. Starters (home-made when I understood right) and the house wine started to warm us up. What followed was a down to earth lunch experience at a very accessible price (we shared a wild boar stew) and the kids had grilled pork. Desserts were various and we shared a well made chocolate mousse. The kids loved the milk rice (I tried and for me it was the first in Portugal that was not drowned in egg yolks or sweetness). After all a very nice and authentic Estrella mountain experience with a service with a smile!!
