A really lovely B&B with quality finishes and lots of space in the rooms. An amazing breakfast spread which does not leave a person hungry. The main TV channel does still get changed from the Master TV but in Cape Town TV watching should not really be a priority. I recommend the Pembridge suite.

Great place to stay very central near airport and 5 minutes from Durbanville Wine route 15 min drive to the Waterfront. B&B situated about to 2km from N1 easy access to Stellenbosch, Franchhoek & Paarl wine routes. Awesome view of Table Mountain from the Jackson Suite
I stayed at Portobello Place (PP) when riding the Cape Argus. It was a last minute booking and I was trepidant! But Mavis & George were welcoming & HOSPITABLE. The room was exceptionally clean, the breakfast was scrumptious and PP is close to shops and restaurants, and, of course, Cape Town.
But, I have 2 very SMALL suggestions.
I think it's important to make sure that there is soap, shampoo in the bathroom - I had neither and had to buy my own.
It's annoying to be watching TV and someone elsewhere in the house changes the channel!!!
Otherr than these 2 small gripes, I highly recommend Portobello Place, it's excellent value.

If you are thinking of staying at a B & B that is clean, spacious, hospitable, amazing and everything else, then you have to stay at Portobello Place. Everything within 10 to 15 mins drive away. Mavis and her husband are absolutely great and we highly recommend this B & B. We will definatly be back.
I first stayed here in 2008 and have been back often, to find that my original assessment of this place
being one of the finest B & B establishments in SOUTH AFRICA, is accurate. The location is close enough to everything (BEACH; CAPE TOWN CENTRE; WINE ROUTES; AIRPORT), yet I felt cocooned in a fabulous nest of hospitality; luxurious surrounds; the best breakfast ever and the warmest hosts.The rooms are well-appointed with modern bathrooms and the property offers a shady reading/ dozing garden where one could also refresh in a rock pool.The owners are consummate professionals and will go out of their way to please - something not often found in this industry. Mavis and George have the best recipe for success: CARE; DEDICATION AND SINCERITY. IT'S NO WONDER THAT THEY SOMETIMES HAVE GUESTS STAYING A WHOLE YEAR !!!
