This hotel is beautifully kept and the 'private' beach was always quiet. We stayed for 4 nights in a budget room which I think was perfect amount of time to spend in Nilaveli. The food and excursions from the hotel were however on the pricey side. A highlight was the snorkel trip to Pigeon island where you can see sharks on the side where the boat drops you off and then the other side of the island is full of colourful tropical fish.

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights, traveling with our 11 months old daughter. We really enjoyed our stay here. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The location and facilities are perfect when traveling with a small kid. The standard room with garden view is large enough to also have a baby cot in there. The setup of the hotel is spacious, and the pool and beach are close to each other. The stretch of beach is clean and pretty. Breakfast buffet has extensive choices. We didn’t try the dinner buffet, but the a la carte menu in the bar (at the pool) was good. In short, we had everything we needed there, so we could easily relax.

During our stay we took the opportunity to go diving at the nearby pigeon island (5 minutes boat ride from the beach). There is a small diving center at the hotel, so it’s very easy to arrange this. They even babysat for us on pigeon island, so we could go down without any worry.

This place is gorgeous. It is not a luxury resort but the rooms are spacious, very clean and are right on the beach. The staff are friendly and the food tasty. If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing stay right on the beach then do not look any further!

We really had an excellent stay here at the Nilaveli beach resort. The facilities are excellent, food is FANTASTIC (and we are real foodies) and the people are truly some of the nicest people we’ve ever met. If you want to go to pidgeon island you can do it right from the resort (5 min boat ride). Our A/C broke and they went out of their way to fix it. Special thanks to Sanker, Dilanka and there were others but I unfortunately don’t remember their names! You guys are the best!

We spent four days in two of their simple, yet comfortable beach cabins as a family of 5. The beach is spotless white sand with enough loungers for all the guests. This is a relaxing place to unwind and enjoy nature, you will not find entertainment. Instead you can enjoy a snorkelling trip to Pidgeon Island (go early!) and building sandcastles with the kids. It's also fascinating to watch the local fishermen at work. The food is decent, although I was disappointed to have a buffet at dinner instead of the a la carte menu. The staff are remarkable, nothing is too much trouble and they really try to make your stay perfect.

All in all, for a small boutique hotel they do an amazing job. The setting is wonderful and waking up to the sounds and views of the sea is great. I'd recommend this place to anyone travelling in the area.
