This was our second visit to the Stein Inn; the first of which was great fun a few years ago and prompted a re-visit with friends to share the experience.

Unfortunately the Stein Inn's restaurant was not as good as we had experienced previously. Also unfortunately they had had a power interruption which limited their capacity to provide lunch options. However, and although we were told there was no hot food available, other diners were enjoying soup and other hot dishes. As we left I asked a waitress whether they now had hot food she said firmly 'no, the powers off' - I just pointed at the hot food on the tables.

I guess it's not the Stein Inn's fault that there was a power outage but given the isolated location (which makes it an attractive destination), it is a pity that the hotel management did not have a 'plan B' - like a backup generator.

I stayed at the Stein Inn (for the 8th. time) for four nights from Monday 16th. April 2018 to Friday 20th April 2018.

I was made most welcome; the Staff, as usual, were very friendly and the service was excellent. The food was very good and the Bedroom was comfortable. The Bar was very pleasant and prices throughout the Inn were very reasonable.

Room Tip: The Rooms are at the front of the Inn and have a sea-view.

I am staying in Stein near the Stein Inn. It is a lovely old inn with a great atmosphere. The locals are friendly and chatty,as was the barmaid Fiona. They have a great selection of whiskies and real ales. A real fire adds to the cosy atmosphere. It is always a pleasure to visit when I am in Stein. A wee gem.

A one night stay to allow for a visit to Loch Bay Restaurant which is a few yards away (which seemed to be what all the staying guests were doing). Room was clean and comfortable if a little on the quirky side - but it is an old building. Couple of nice beers in the bar, which was warm and friendly. Good breakfast in the morning. Will stay again for next visit to Loch Bay.
