Decided to try lunch here having passed many times and were visiting a garden in the village. Good food and service. We had soup and a sandwich, then cake and coffee. all very nice.

Had beef and horseradish filled roll from specials board and got what it says on the tin. One slice and a dear of sauce. Suggested a leaf of lettuce and I was told that I should have ordered it. Basic and overpriced.

We can only apologise that you were disappointed with your roll, we didnt realise that you wanted the £4.95 sandwich off of the special board as you wanted the roll which cost £3.30 as there was no salad or coleslaw with that! We will try harder next time and we can only apologise again!

13 cyclists stopped here on there travels and a welcome break after 40 miles. Very good wholesome soup, nice cakes, great tea and coffee. Impressed by the menu and the alcohol range for evening or lunch dining. Popular place.

Laurel Bank Tea Room was one of those sweet surprises you stumble across while traveling. We had been driving on a stunning, quiet, road on a bank holiday, and were hungry when we saw the sign for the café. The scones, made by the daughter, were superlative, the best scones two travelers from California have ever enjoyed. After the tea we decided to order the egg mayonnaise sandwiches to take with us but wound up watching chaffinches and enjoying the patio on a glorious sunny day. Make certain you plug Broughton into GPS if you find yourself in that part of Scotland; you will be greatly rewarded by the delights awaiting you.

I had the macaroni cheese this tme. It was fantasicaly light not the usual stoge from the works canteen. came withsalad and a garlic bread. We also had a baked potatoe which I am told was great, but I did have a taste if the creamy chicken peices thing. The sauce was absolutely brilliant. Bikers were enjoying the sun in the garden at back in the sun. Oddly, two farmers were fixing their 1950s tractors in the street outside the pub. All in all a great hour and a bit
