I found Domaine de Ville Cherel on TripAdvisor and was thrilled to book it for two nights away in the MSM area with my parents who are visiting from the States. The location is perfect for day trips to MSM and the St. Malo area. The space is wonderful for sharing with family/friends/children both indoors and out. In terms of luxury...I would refrain from going that route and say it's rustic comfortable! There were lots of little things that we didn't find 100%, but nothing that would keep us from recommending this hideaway. For instance, the downstairs bedroom (kid friendly), equipped with 2 twin beds and a TV/DVD player, had definitive bed-support (box spring) issues as we had to remove both mattresses and sleep with them on the floor (clearly children had been jumping on the beds and loosened the ribs of the bed-supports which are also part of the bed frames themselves. One bed had some custom wood work to screw in additional supports while the other bed collapsed under my husband. We managed to put it back together and just decided to be safe rather than sorry and move the mattresses to the floor. The upstairs bedroom has only a tub in which maybe children could stand but because of the angled ceiling, it is not useful for adults other than for bathing. There were LOTS of cobwebs, dust bunnies, and lack of general dusting of fixtures, cleaning behind headboards at the floorboard level, etc. The hob wasn't pristine either although it was my mother who mentioned this to me. The one difficulty for us Americans was not having a coffee maker...just a tea kettle with which to make instant decaf coffee (provided). Otherwise, the kitchen is extremely well equipped with everything one could need including a vegetable steamer and toaster. The breakfast that is included in your stay is a bag of croissants, some pre-packaged toasts, a packet of mini ham slices, cheese wedges, butter, jam, and 6 eggs, tea fixings (a small jug of milk). Upon arrival, you can expect the fridge to contain these items as well as a few sodas, beers, and a couple of small juices for breakfast time. There are a few bottles of wine for sale at a reasonable 4 euros a piece. Nice touch and extremely generously priced. I loved the space, the quiet, the walk across the wheat field to view the MSM but I thought the place could have used a good dusting and ridding of spiders and their webs. We killed quite a few big ones and moved several Daddy Long Legs from walls, logs, and corners in the two days we spent in the cabin. There is an Intermarche supermarket within walking distance so I would recommend just stocking up on your family's essentials. WiFi signal is weak at best and we were unable to get online but that was a blessing! Sometimes unplugging on vacation is what makes it a vacation! Also, they only accept cash so be prepared. The washing machine was out of order while we visited not that we needed to do wash but if we'd been visiting for longer, that would have been a downer. All in all, a bit overpriced, definitely not luxurious, but we did appreciate all of the small details/touches like washclothes, spices, and a well-appointed, comfortable homey environment.
