We spent one night in a room in the main castle. Having been invited to participate in a wedding celebration at this really romantic place we enjoyed a nice afternoon and evening. Nevertheless - rooms are „medium clean“ the bed was extremely hard and the blankets could have served in winter but not in a summer weekend with minimum temperatures of 25 degrees . Bathroom is not at all state of the art. Given the fact that you have to pay an expensive rate also the breakfast buffet was poor. To summarize: we enjoyed the wonderful wedding and the party also the wonderful ensemble of buildings and the location - rooms and catering need improvement

The charming complex of Hotel Schloss Ulrichshusen was the perfect setting for a wedding weekend, particularly since the weather was lovely during our stay there. We were there with 150 invited guests who occupied all of the castle rooms and others nearby. We came one day early to enjoy an evening before the three days of festivities began . We had a good reception and a nice large corner room with a park and partial lake view. The shower was very good and there were two comfortable armchairs with reading lamps. Wonderful!

The lunch and dinner on our own were quite good, a good schnitzel being our dinner selection. The wine list is small and OK if not great. The best red is the Spanish temperanillo. Once the wedding events commenced, we were in for some culinary treats. The first night, with some instruction, the staff prepared a delicious Venezuelan dinner including a succulent roasted pig. The German breakfasts were excellent with great bread, and typical German breakfast fare. The seated group dinner in the great hall of the castle was definitely very fine. We had excellent gravelox to start, a delicious mushroom soup next, with tender filet mignon and accompaniments, and a lemon tart with fresh berries to end. The lengthy meal was well- served and wine glasses kept full. This was definitely a weekend all will long remember. Would certainly recommend this as a wedding destination.

It is difficult to describe this place. It is 100km south of Rostock and 175 km north of Berlin airports. I drove from Rostock for one hour questioning if there was anybody else but me in the area. The brand new Audi A6 GPS which I had rented didn't even recognize the place. And when I arrived, I really thought that it was no possible that anyone with common sense had decided to host a conference there.
Well..... lost in the middle of nowhere, this place is perfect not only for conferences but if you really want to relax in nature. As I went there in May, the fields were all green and yellow and they were amazingly beautiful. But make no mistakes: in here, you sleep, read, walk, eat and that's really it! There is nothing around!
At the end of the day, I must say I really liked it. Note that there are rooms, but also apartments available.
Note that the hotel area is rather vast, there are over 2km between parts of the hotel, but the good thing is that both main areas have restaurant and concierge. (but when I checked out at 6am, there was nobody at both receptions.... )

you'll need to know:
- its ~200km away from Berlin and truly in the middle of nowhere - great to be alone or in a happy relationship
- rooms are really sweet and most of them look a bit different due to the different building structure
- it's a really nice place and a castle, but it's not a 5 star resort. the location is amazing as is the surrounding, but the service is not yet there - some staff was not trained e.g. didnt know whether we could get a coffee and charge the room or whether we were allowed to get at a certain time anything or also we had during the weekend to search for the waitors - overall a little more love, better training and thinking in the mind of a customer would truly make it an outstanding place

tip:
- breakfast is from 8-10 but from 10-12 is no chance to get a coffee, a drink, food - anything on sight - please be aware of it

We stayed in a castle room for 3 nights (we extended from 2, as we liked it so much). Lovely large room, with bathroom with bath. The castle has a superb very peaceful rural location next to large lake, with a small sandy beach cleared of reeds. The restaurant is in a separate building looking back on the castle over a lovely moat; the evening menu was really excellent (we ate there twice). The breakfast buffet was good, although tea - as is usual for Germany - is served in a glass (and is therefore not that hot).

Minor gripes; the bath wasn't cleaned despite us using it every day, and the limited complimentary toiletries were not renewed. And on our 2nd morning the chambermaid did not service our room at all. The evening service in the restaurant was good, but the breakfast team were not very attentive. The restaurant terrace is lovely, but after dusk mosquitoes are a problem due to the moat and lake. Hotel reception is not in the castle building itself; we were only given one key, so when my companion went up to our room and I tried to follow 5 mins later, I couldn't gain entry into the building. (NB there are about 30 steps up to the castle).

These minor issues did not prevent us from having a lovely relaxing stay; we slept and ate well, enjoyed dozing on sunbeds by the lake, and hired bicycles one day (the surrounding countryside makes for great cycling). There are lots of interesting places nearby to visit.

Room tip: Rooms in the mill are a few kilometers distant from the castle and it's restaurant
