I love this beach and visit it when we are in Kona, hadn't been to Kona in a few years. There is a small fee for parking but still very much so worth it.

Hapuna Beach is gorgeous! We arrived early (on a Wednesday @8:30) before the crowds came. There were still plenty of parking spaces available at that time. Once on the beach, we were able to secure a spot in the shade in front of the rocks near the north end. There is a small rocky area near the middle of the beach where we snorkeled and saw a beautiful variety of fish and a lone sea turtle. The sand here is fine, soft, and clean and the water is literally crystal clear. The surf was very gentle early on, but it picked up a bit later in the morning and was perfect for boogie boarding. This is a great beach for families and it has a concession stand on site with rentals available too (umbrellas, chairs, boogie boards, etc.). It’s all cash only so have plenty on hand to pay the $5 parking fee and for any concessions or rentals you may want. As always though, don’t ever plan on spending any time on a beach in Hawaii without bringing your own snacks and cold waters. We hope you enjoy this little bit of paradise as much as we did!

Hapuna Beach is a commercialized resort Beach, however of the beaches in Hawaii or public. There’s a lot of parking so the beach is pretty full with people. The water is crystal clear. It’s not much for snorkeling, But is the perfect place for relaxing on a long stretch of sand without a ton of rocks. The resort is off to the right so you can easily stay away from the umbrellas and lounge chairs. There are showers and public restrooms. Bring a towel, lay it down and take in the Vitamin Sea!

Our hotel was on the beach as well but we walked down to this end a lot. Great Boogie Boarding, white sand beach and crystal clear water!

We bnb visited to snorkel and enjoy the beach. The wind was strong and the sand is very hot to the feet. Hugging the rocks, we had good visibility for our snorkel and saw plenty of fish. There is not much shade but $10 rents an umbrella.
