firstly, i must say that i have never came across such professional and wonderful staff anywhere. From the girl in reception to the young men behind the bar, every single staff member here was wonderful. so genuinely pleasant and attentive without that pushy feel. Every hotel could learn from the staff here :)
The views from the back of the hotel and room were beautiful. the sunsets and sunrises were lovely over the water. The breakfast was very good with lots of selections to suit everyone. The bar food wasnt pricey but was a little bland.
It was the room that was the issue. spacious and very clean and comfortable but the noise levels were horrendous. We must have been above the gym as there was music playing on a loop from 6am to at least 10pm at night. It was really loud. it was turned down on request but after a while went back up again. we heard others complain too. This , coupled with the very very thin walls and creaky floors meant we got barely any rest at all. We could hear every word from seemingly all directions, we could hear snoring and people returning late at night once the loop music stopped. If you are planning on getting any sleep then bring earplugs. It really did ruin an otherwise lovely trip.
The local area is beautiful although you do need a car to get around. The hotel itself is in beautiful and peaceful surroundings.
sadly though, due to the noise levels i dont think we would be back.

Stayed during an extremely cold weekend of snow and storms. The hotel was very warm and we didn't get cold, so it coped well with the temperatures. However, the hotel isn't in itself 'cosy' and could really do with a roaring open fire.

Food in the bar wasn't very good at all. My children's pizzas were soggy and the chips were hard. Food in the restaurant was fine. Staff lovely and kind.

Rooms are spacious, but are rather dated in their appearance.

Swimming pool was wonderful, as was the spa.

Was given a living social voucher for an over night B&B here.
Lovely hotel right on the beach and our room we were given was down one floor making it almost level with the ocean which was lovely.
Room was in need of freshening up a bit but well sized, bath stopper didn't fit properly in the hole so couldn't have a bath but a nice strength shower.
Dinner in the bar was ok nothing special for the price charged.
Breakfast was lovely with a great selection and if wanted you can order extra things like kippers etc to be cooked.

This hotel is very good and beautifully located on Lough Foyle. Our room was very good - although we would prefer a walk-in shower rather than having to stand/turn in a small bath with shower overhead. We ate in the bar which was very good and most of the staff were courteous and hard working. Reception staff and breakfast staff were very good also. Breakfast was good but such are the high standards of breakfast in Irish hotels that Redcastle would need to up its game with selection of breads and fruit.
On the golf front, the person who took our booking at the spa reception had no idea how a time sheet worked as we had to stand around waiting for members to play. Eventually, we started at 7th, which was not ideal as we had the tee booked a month in advance.

Room Tip: View over lough
