We rented Marianne's house for a week in August, travelling with our one-and-a-half-year-old toddler, and had a great time.
The house is quite spacious, with a large living/dining room, a well-furnished kitchen, a double bedroom and bathroom with a good shower on the lower flower, and three further rooms upstairs (one double bedroom, one twin bedroom, one larger room with a sofa bed) along with another bathroom. It's an old house and has exposed beams throughout, and a very characterful (if rather low-ceilinged) staircase, which we let our toddler climb but not descend! There is no bath - we simply brought a paddling-pool along and bathed our little one in that. Outside is a really lovely garden terrace with lots of flowers - a very nice place to spend time with a cool glass of wine.
Montrichard itself isn't especially touristy, but it's a pretty little town on the Cher river with a castle on the hill, some nice streets to explore, and a characterful square with good restaurants. There's a Carrefour Express in the centre for groceries, and a Carrefour Market just out of town. It makes a great base to explore the area: nearby are the chateaux of Chenonceau (15 minutes), Amboise (30 minutes), Cheverny (40 minutes), Blois (45 minutes), Valencay (45 minutes), Chambord (1hr), Villandry (1hr), as well as towns like Loches and Montresor, and the fantastic zoo at Beauval (30 minutes).
Marianne speaks excellent English and her communication beforehand was prompt and helpful. She wasn't available to come and let us into the property, but organised her neighbours to give us keys and show us around. It's helpful to know a little French in that situation since they don't speak English. She also gave us the code for her neighbour's wifi, that works (mostly) in one corner of her house, which was a useful bonus.
