The venue is a construction site at the moment and there is a strong smell of sewerage in the rooms at night due to the pipes being worked on. Only upon arrival was i informed that there would be no breakfast and no dining facilities and that it was a construction site.

We arrived after a long day and wanted to order something from room service. There was none as they were too busy with events. Its an events venue and it is quite run down. Rooms are nice and garden is lovely, but even the bathroom has a windowed door that enables anyone on the toilet to be see from the front door. The low wall around the toilet is also indiscrete. And the breakfast was very basic. I would not recommend it again.

No aircon or fan in the middle of summer in South Africa. Very dissapointing. If you have to sleep with all your windows open so mosquitos can eat you alive then it's like sleeping outside. Bad experience.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE...!!! AVOID this venue unless you have absolutely no alternative as i didn't. I had my wedding (180 guests) at this venue this past weekend, as you can see in my rating, it will be memorable for all the wrong reasons.

In a nutshell, this venue is king when it comes to OVER-PROMISING and UNDER-DELIVERING.

1. We were sold a "new" part of the venue that was still under construction. The owner of the venue Harold made all sorts of promises that it would be complete. It was still a construction site 48hrs before the wedding. This forced us to compromise and take another section of the venue, forcing us to reconceptualise our wedding 2 days before... NOT COOL. Oh and it was still not complete in time.

2. After months of planning and conversation they got our deco horribly wrong. we were shown an African print, design which we liked, went and produced our wedding stationery based on it and on THE DAY of the wedding we see that the print is not the one we wer shown, rendering our stationery useless. The best answer we got was "we couldn't find what we showed you" Then why show it to us?

3. After paying for all decor and flowers in advance, my bride did not have a bouquet when she walked down the isle.

Petals to throw (which were promised) only showed up once we had left the ceremony area. We actually had to go back to the alter and re-do uor exit.

We were promised 4 plinths with flowers at the ceremony area, only 2 were there on the day.

4. Now on to the food. An okay spread all together after having to have 2 tastings because the first one was a disaster. This should have raised alarm bells. On both occasions we were billed for and promised creme brulee - instead we were given a shocking custard-like tart in a soggy pastry.

5. This is the kicker for me: There was no water at the venue for us to shower before the ceremony. When I took this up with so-called GM (Jean) i think his name was, the best he could tell me was "there is nothing he can do if there is no water, it is beyond his control". I still dont understand how he thought that was a sufficient response after we payed them a 6-figure sum.

I could go on but i would rather stop here and PRAISE the following staff members: Tidimalo, Carlos, Doreen & John who did their level best to cover for their owner and GM's stuff-ups. Our day would have been a disaster without you.

Last words: DON'T DO IT... Its NOT worth it...

While the kingsize bed was extremely comfortable and firm I have a problem with establishments that do not provide a top sheet to the bed. So you sleep either with absolutely no cover or in direct contact with a blanket or duvet. The room is not air conditioned and the design or lay-out of the room is such that there cannot be any movement of air through the room unless the door is left open as the only window is on one side of the room. Fortunately it was a mild night but if the weather were to have been hot it would have been most uncomfortable. The bathroom is somewhat cramped.

Breakfast was excellent.

Room tip: In summer ask for an air conditioned room or at least get one where there can be free movement of air through the room
