Feeling hungry after a day on the Lake Como and some shopping, driving by on a quite busy and ordinary road we noticed this restaurant. The Osteria is located in part of the old barn building, which in part still undergoing renovation. After parking in a complicated configuration in the parking lot nearby, we ventured in. Place was fully packed and nice homely family atmosphere was in the air. We were seated on the 2nd floor; decor is rather rustic and should not distract from food, as we found out later after a fantastic lunch. Service was quick and very friendly; we got exhaustive explanation on the menu and got ourselves a nice bottle of prickly organic Prosecco. Then food followed and literally we enjoyed every bite from break to cold cut to pasta to desert. From appetizers I would recommend Antipasto misto della Pioda. Main course - take any, I am sure there will be no regrets. I had verdure miste grigliate, my friend had meat and we equally enjoyed these dishes. Minor detail, but many ingredients are 100% organic and come from local farms and owner's own gardens.
In short, if you are somewhere close, make a point of stopping buy and eating in this fantastic Osteria, which also carries a limited, but impressive stock of local beers and organic wines. It is quite unnoticeable from outside, but renovation will complete at certain point. For now it stays our little secret near Lake Como.
