Our guide had been a small boy who had used the shelter. He described what it was like to be awakened in the middle of the night and what it was like for people to emerge from the shelter and discover their home missing. It’s cold in the shelter. Take a sweater if you have an opportunity to go.

Small museum with restricted opening times so although we were on a cruise port day visit all the group bookings had been covered as part of a very expensive local walking tour.

To visit you must be a group of 10. It's a rock cave man made to protect the German Garison. Tickets are purchased from a local hotel.

Our guide ( Hurtigruten trip ) took us around this incredible site. very interesting saw a film and listen in to what happened during the 1920 .1930. 1940 1950 . well worth the time spent coming, the second world war devistated this area. Been educated yet again on history I did not know about. Note stone on path signed by King of Norway.
also told they arrange to have concerts in part of this site.

This saved so many people whilst bombing carried out by the Russians. Good example on what you need to do sometime to survive and what can be achieved.
