Lofoten Suite Hotel
Ranked #1 of 1 Svolvaer B&B and Inns
Reviewed 1 November 2017

This is a quite expensive hotel. Well suites it says, and that's pretty much what it is. You have your own room, which is like a normal hotel room, and you also have a livingroom which you share with at least one other room.
You have a small dinette and refrigerator. And a nice balkony overloking the very center of Svolvær.
This would be a very nice place for several couples traveling together.
But I had a serious problem staying here. The rooms very smoking hot. You can't open the windows in your room, but the balkony door opens. I had to sleep the entire night with the door to my room open, and the same with the balkony door.
And another funny thing was that the refrigurator was set to very coold. So the beer froze inside it.
The room I had didn't give much privacy, as there were glass walls and door to the bathroom. But then again I dont't expect that to be any problem for couples.

Hotel was very clean and made with great taste. We asked for a room from a higher floor and got one on the fifth floor. There was a fridge and stove in the shared kitchen. Staff was very welcoming and helpful. Perfect for larger groups since you can book a whole suite for yourself. Would definetily come back here!

Ask if a room is available on the higher floor: you'll have a stunning panoramic view of the harbor and the nearby square, floor to ceiling windows. In pleasant weather, there's an outdoor terrace outside your room for an even greater luxurious perk. The rooms are clean, modern and very quiet. We liked having a little kitchen (very basic, but perfectly fine) as we shopped at the local grocery store and enjoyed dinner at the little cafe table so we could savor our view. Bathrooms and showers also clean and efficient. Friendly service, two restaurants adjoining the front desk. It's sort of between a hotel and an apartment so don't expect a lobby or other typical hotel features (no gym and such).

Room Tip: Ask for a higher floor!

In a lovely position overlooking the harbour. Our bedroom itself was excellent and spotlessly clean. Rather unusually there is a second bedroom (with separate key), together with a lounge and kitchen to which the occupants of both bedrooms have access. For a family this would be a super arrangement. If strangers were in the other bedroom i'm not so sure.
When travelling to the hotel we received a telephone call to tell us that reception closed at 5 p.m., so we had to collect our key from the Bacaloa restaurant downstairs. Not really a problem as reception was only a telephone call away. However on Sunday morning the Bacalao was shut and the restaurant mentioned in the hotel information would not give us breakfast as we had not booked (there were two customers in it) The only place we could get any sustenance was in the Thon Hotel nearby at £30 per head- and excellent it was too.
We left on the Hurtigruten which sailed at 10 p.m.but we had to vacate our room at noon. Although we were promised a luggage room our cases could only be kept in reception all day and when the receptionist went home they remained in the lobby unattended.
All in all too many shortcomings to rate this anything other than average, although the room itself was very good.

Room Tip: Check the room arrangements. A harbour view is good. Ensure you can eat on Sundays.

The concept is close to perfect. You pay for your private room and bath room but share a small saloon with a kitchenet and a dining table. It is equipped so you can make a small meal, brew coffee or tea. Someone had left coffee before I came. I had the whole suite alone for two nights and paid NOK 1000 pr. night(110€). The breakfast can be served and paid for next door in a restaurant that is not a part of the hotel. My bonus: a sauna in my room. Also av terrasse outside the saloon, overlooking the mountains surrounding th city. The hotel is in the harbour close to where the Hurtigruten stops.

Room Tip: Harbour side
