Considering the fact that you have to ride your bicycle for 7 km if you want to reach the restaurant from the village , the dining room was too hot and stuffy and we took off all the clothes we could take off to be comfortable . Which is a nuisance . Tip : do not take the carpaccio as it is no carpaccio but reminds one of the raw ham you could buy at Albert Hein . The maindish - fish - was excellent . They had no decaf . My main irritation was with the waitress who overdid it and talked to us as if we were in Kindergarten . She did not find the balance between discretion and familiarity .

While the restaurant is well located for people walking and cycling, the experience was ruined by lack of flexibility at out last visit. We already knew from a previous visit that they had gluten free bread. When we came in cold and tired and hungry and asked for soup with gluten free bread we felt as if we had walked in to a scene from "Fawlty Towers". My husband explained that he wanted tomato soup even though it had a little gluten in it and with it he preferred gluten free bread. Well - you could not have imagined that this was a really impossible request. Yes - they have soup. Yes they have gluten free bread. No - you cannot have soup with gluten free bread. No explanations or pleading on our part made any difference. The kitchen would not cooperate.
Yes - you can have gluten free pancakes but only one filling.
No - we do not have decafe coffee.
No there is not much vegetarian.
As the Posthuys is the only cafe/restaurant in the area, it is easy for them to serve what they want - customers cannot go elsewhere.

When on Vlieland, jump on the bicycle and go there to have lunch or an afternoon tea and more.
Very friendly, good value for money. Absolute relaxed.
Mind you in high season it might be a bit busy so you want to make a reservation if you go there for lunch or dinner.

We were cycling around the Island and we came upon this place at the perfect moment. We were both parched. We sat out on the terrace. We just had drinks but when I saw the burgers going by, I wished I had been hungry at that moment. They looked amazing and it seemed to be a favorite amongst those that were eating food that day. I visited the inside of the restaurant and it was so cozy and lovely - we'll definitely go back on our next visit and I'll be sure to have an appetite and order one of those burgers.
