Caceres was pumping on the Saturday night of Easter. We had arrived that evening and hadn’t checked out the dining scene. Everywhere we looked was really full and we didn’t feel like battling for a space at the bar. We were told outside the bar/restaurant that they had tables inside. We were led out past the bar to a dining area. No ambience and a bit of an odd smell. We were handed some well-used and not so clean menus and chose a couple of raciones and some drinks. While waitin we were brought some tasty little barbecues sausages. Our order arrived - barbecued asparagus - 7 pieces, pleasant but the plate was over the top embellished and really spoilt the simplicity of the dish. The other dish of fried eggs with ham was okay, although we have eaten far better around Spain and the potatoes were really oily. We shared a dessert - apparently a speciality of the area. It was ok but once again highly decorated plat with a big chip on the side. Perhaps less attention to decoration and more on the content would be good. Our meal of 2 raciones, 2 drinks and one dessert (and no bread) came to 40 euros. Certainly not good value and very ordinary food.
