We booked our holiday to Haras du Gazon many months ago and Anne, the owner, was fantastic in answering all our queries and emails. We were a set of two families and Gite Alme proved to be exactly what we needed in terms of space and amenities.
The Haras was very easy to find and located in a beautiful area of Normandy. We were able to reach a number of tourist sites with ease. Falaise is only a 20 minute drive and had all the supermarkets we needed to feed our hungry troupe.
Now for the accommodation. Two words:
Absolutely beautiful.
All the bedrooms were spacious and en-suite. Comfortable beds, plentiful wardrobe and drawer space, sparkling bathrooms. What a treat for all of us. Everything was scrupulously clean and the furniture was very solid and excellent quality. The gite had two enormous dining tables, both upstairs and downstairs. The kitchen was fully equipped with plenty of basic grocery items filling the cupboards.
Outside, everyone was catered for in terms of entertainment - from a play-room filled with table-tennis, pool, bikes, books and chess to the enormous covered pool complete with diving board. The gardens are beautifully laid out and Anne provides you with maps to explore the fields and lanes.
Our greatest pleasure came from being surrounded by horses. The stables are next to the gites and the soft clip-clopping of horses hooves in the morning and evening accompanied by comforting whinnies and gentle snorting totally made our stay. The horses were friendly and loved all the attention lavished on them by everyone in our party. Out in the fields, many of the mares had long-legged, clumsy foals, eyeing us suspiciously but curious nonetheless. It was lovely.
We were reluctant to leave and very much hope to visit again one day.

Had 8 days in Gite Balubet. Enjoyed every second. The Gite was very clean and tidy, had everything we needed.
The location is excellent, up to 1.5 drive from all attraction we visited.

“A beautiful, comfortable property in a wonderful location”
Reviewed 17 June 2016 for a stay in June 2016

We are a family of twelve, six adults and six children, ranging in age from seventy to seventeen months. The property was perfect as it was beautifully presented with lots of space and the bedroom for six was a big hit with the grandchildren. The owners Tim and Anne were very friendly and helpful and they obviously work extremely hard maintaining the high standards of the properties, lovely gardens and grounds. Observing the daily life of the beautiful horses added to our holiday experience. The swimming pool, games room, play area and tennis courts are an added bonus and great for keeping the children occupied. The area is beautiful and sleepy but with easy access to interesting historical sites. If you are seeking comfort, a spacious property and tranquility in a delightful region of France we recommend this accommodation.

“Gite Almé is an exceptionally comfortable, well-equipped and spacious property set in beautiful surroundings.”

Anne and Tim are excellent hosts who are a discreet presence but who are on hand to provide help when it is needed. The house file on what is available in the area is very impressive! Our grandson especially loved being so close to the farm's magnificent horses and being able to see the foals and walk the dog! The gite is terrific for a group, being very comfortable throughout and providing different spaces in which to relax, play games etc. The shared activities room is another bonus. Bedrooms and bathrooms are spacious and well-equipped. When we could tear ourselves away, we enjoyed exploring the local area which has very varied landscapes for walkers. we had a wonderful week are already planning a return visit.

“Lovely, lovely place to stay, in a beautiful location with pool, pool room and tennis courts for happy children”
Reviewed 6 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

When, reluctantly, leaving our gite, we found Bayeux market to be small and perfect to visit and of, course, the Tapestry as well as the museums in Bayeux and Notre Dame church.

Additionally, Falaise Chateau, birth place of William the Conqueror, was of interest for all ages and very reasonable.

Some of the major WW2 beaches are an easy drive to visit.
