We really enjoyed our visit. the castle has been restored as many original features were lost. It's fairly small. Staff are nice. The use of a tablet is included in the entry fee. I was so glad we accepted. The tablets take you back in time and show you how it would have looked in Williams day. There's also a virtual treasure hunt for the children. My oldest son is 6 and although we visit lots of historical sites this is the first time I have seen him spark in interest. I'm sure it was the tablet. He spent the rest of the day pretending to be a Norman knight. The castle brought history alive for him. Thank you.

Falaise is a small town dominated by this Chateau which has been tastefully restored to give a very good insight into Norman times.

There is a free car park at the base of the walls and it is a short walk to the Chateau itself. It is free to enter the inside of the Chateau walls, and you can walk around and take in the view. There is a small garden which contains plants used by the Normans.

Or you can enter the Chateau for €8 and are given a tablet so that as you walk around it explains how things would have looked.

Inevitably, in an old Chateau, there are steps which might pose a problem for some.

We loved this castle. The use of tablets to compare how the castle looked in its early days was brilliant. The projected figures giving their story of their connection to Falaise were very well done.

Chateau was ruined but French have chosen to restore parts in cement rather than by stabilising ruins as per English National Trust. Some parts are free to walk round but you can pay for technology assistance in visualising some rooms.

Very interesting castle that was seriously built to defend the area. You can walk around most of it for free or pay €8 and get a guided tour around the centre of the chateau and museum.
